Bernie Sanders Raises $6 Million After Announcing Presidential Bid

By Thomas Kaplan
Feb. 20, 2019

WASHINGTON — Just over 24 hours after announcing his presidential bid, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has already raised $6 million from more than 225,000 donors, his campaign said Wednesday morning.

That amount far surpasses what any of his rivals have disclosed raising after their own announcements this year.

I’ve already had 2 posts hidden.

It looks like we’re in for a repeat of 2016, when a certain candidate’s fan club was allowed to run roughshod over the rest of us, spreading propaganda about our nominee that tied in nicely with Russian disinformation efforts.

I hope I’m wrong.

Its not surprising most AA voters will give Sanders an approval rating but they wont vote for him if there is a better alternative. We saw that repeatedly in the 2016 primaries. And of course we do have much better alternative candidates now.

The rest are Democrats.

Bernie is not some perfect candidate. He will struggle with women and minorities. The recent blowup over sexism in his campaign is real. His bullshit comments about his "opponents" only wanting women and minorities to run because they are women and minorities was so fucking dishonest it makes my teeth hurt.

To say these issues don't exist is to live in a bubble of cognitive dissonance.

I donated as did my sons and my husband but we are all waiting for that to happen. He got his donations because we want him there saying what he says but he must address the taxes for my vote anyway. The rest of my family does not seem to care about that so much but I do. Still, I will donate to keep him in and expressing his views.

So in reality your “HAS to be addressed” is more or less lip service. You don’t really care about the taxes.

But that’s not stopping you from rewarding him financially even though he has not met the requirement he “HAS” to meet. Given that, it’s pretty clear the “HAS” part is really more of a “maybe” or even a “Well, okay.”

In other words, just lip service.

Our Revolution was also sending out asks.

I was getting emails from Sanders asking for donations starting in December 2015, and I never signed up for them.
