A purplish swath that generally swings Florida's vote one way or another. A group of Tampa GOPers put in a bid, it was better than other bids. GOP was well informed about possibility of tropical weather. RNC does help our economy somewhat, since this is normally off-season for tourists and snowbirds... but probably not as much as advertised.

A direct hit by a hurricane or tropical storm that would disrupt the convention is unlikely.

There will surely be some days with thunderstorms that won't be conducive to outdoor protests.
