They're trying to steer the political dialog to their old, reliable 3-Gs - Guns, Gays and Gynecology.
I hope there is a day when the people wake up and see they're being played whenever this happens. The sooner the better.

(31,706 posts)It's not about us or even President Obama...the rushpublican party is breaking apart along in a flurry of frustration and hatred. Rmoney didn't want the Akin mess to deal with...he was hoping he could "etch-a-sketch" the fundies and placate them by naming Eddie Munster and quietly let them put their draconian rules into the party platform. Akin not only brought back the "war on women" theme but also exposed the party platform that was supposed to keep the fundies happy. Now Willard has to choose...by throwing Akin under the bus he alienated those who were luke warm about him to begin with (that silly Mormon thing) and if Rmoney flips on this he will get hammered by the corporate media.
Next week could be two storms for the price of one. You have a lot of Paulbots running around who are sure to make a lot of noise...and could make Willard's nomination into a real circus. Now there's the fundies who see Akin as a hero now and if Willard and the rushpublican party shuns him they just may decide to stay home in November.
The sad truth is there are 40% of the electorate who will still vote for these shitboxes...and have bought the lies. One can't take this election for granted...

(83,130 posts)when they win, it's a plurality not a crushing "tidal wave", it's a small
tremor that puts them in office.
The GOP has not had any new ideas since Eisenhower, and even then,
it's sketchy at best.
I'm not going to say the D's are a lot better, but the learning curve should
have flattened out by now and we liberals/progressives should have taken
power and maintained it long ago...instead, I've seen D's have their spine
ripped out and replaced w/rubber bands. That has to change as well if we
are going to force the GOP hand.

(232 posts)1. They picked a veep candidate to appeal to their base - the very people who should have been on board months ago.
2. They keep calling for Biden to step aside - why do that unless you fear the guy? If he's a chucklehead like they say, they'd be delighted to see Biden at the debate.
3. My FB page had a side ad that read "Obama's War on Women." They know there really IS a war on women going on, and they know they're losing it, and this ad is a pathetic attempt to turn the tide. It won't work.
4. There's nothing left to talk about. Literally. They don't want to discuss Romney's crowing achievement as governor, his status as a pioneer of outsourcing jobs, his tax returns, his family dog or his magical underwear. Quit being mean!
5. God is going to smite their convention. Well, no, not really. That one's just schadenfreude.
