It is pronounced "Ein" Rand, not "Ann" Rand.
Fellow liberals, when you are justifiably berating a certain Vice Presidential candidate for his adherence to the views of the batshit crazy Rand, and videotaping your activities, please at least pronounce her name correctly.
Yes, people will look at you as if you were wrong, but do it anyway. There's a certain credibility that comes with enunciating the name accurately.

(115,103 posts)Not only does she not deserve the respect, but if there is need to mention her I just say the woman who was driven mad by greed and idolized serial killers, you know, the one who wrote the torturously bad books about how selfishness is awesome... and then maybe mention a book if they haven't already mispronounced her name after recognizing the description. I enjoy hearing it mispronounced. I look forward to the day it's pretty much forgotten.
The point of communication is to be understood.

(18,635 posts)...like when people call that dumbass ElRushbo "Limbough" as in "dim cow".
After all, if someone gets a kick saying her name wrong at her expense, then that person should hold morally superior ground. That's just how Ann would have it. Personally, I call her by a generic name not suitable to print here.
