What is going to happen if Tampa is cancelled?
Do they throw together a new convention somewhere else? How do they do the voting if all the delegates are not there?
I'm curious how this is going to work. It is a great opportunity for the Republicans to avoid the glare of the media and the public and to skip doing all the things they know will make them look bad.
Of course they will blame losing the election on the their lack of a proper convention but they have been so sneaky and underhanded in this election I can't help but think the lack of convention will allow them even more of a chance to be sleazy.
Any political junkies who knows what happens in the event of a cancellation?

j/k it's gonna be Mitt and they're gonna lose.

(14,400 posts)but a springboard and rallying point for the election. They haven't been legitimate nominating vehicles for decades. The nominee is already chosen. The idea of a bunch of old white people gathering to nominate a candidate for President has really been taken over by the idea of a bunch of old white people gathering to get hammered and schmooz with a bunch of other old white people.
Of course they'll use any delay/cancellation as an excuse. Excuses and blame are the only two things the modern Republican party has.

(17,064 posts)Is the fallback plan. But it won't be necessary. Most of the convention is just fluff... cheerleading, exposure for up and comers, bloviating. All could be cancelled, if necessary. Voting can be Wednesday, the storm should be well gone.
