I beat up MSNBC a lot, but Rachel Maddow just did a 25 minute opening, commercial free.

that says a lot since the ads for the highest rated cable news show go for a lot of money.
I like that she has a Cronkite like weight and authority there that gives her freedom to do things like this.
Keep supporting her MSNBC!

I'm sure she gets offers from the other networks all the time.

She breaks things down and explains things and connects the dots, and reminds me of things, so that even I can understand all these things. This is a complex mess we're in.

There is something about hearing the news from a person who cares deeply about it.

Yes, Walter Cronkite.

Even Peter Jennings during 911 - he was the only one I could watch that day.

Now Rachel.

at least 15 minutes, usually 20-30. That way, she can do a quick opening synopsis of the days news and a brief preview of the coming show, and then plow into a big story in depth. She doesn't break for commercials, and seldom has guests during that time.

Usually I like it. She's great at starting with obscure stories and pulling the threads together to where it applies to current events.

Just my opinion.

wonderful tonight. For some reason her words really hit me as something we would be coming back to years in the future. I teared up a little, thinking, "I listened to this live." We're in such a pivotal time, and I'm so glad we have Rachel to talk us through it.

Rachel is always on a different, and more important story. She is the most respected journalist of this generation.

With very few exceptions, she never has more than one guest at a time, she interviews then with excellent questions based on solid research - and that aren't long statements of her opinion followed with "what do you think of what I think?" - and she actually listens to their answers and follows up with additional excellent questions.

She's the best.

That is one of the reasons she is number one. Letting Republican politicians and mouths spout their BS is not journalism and it is not news. We always watch Rachel !!
