The testimony is actually a smart move by Cohen.

Nobody will ever hire him again.

There's a pretty good chance that his wife hates him, if the rumors about him cheating on her are true.

He's going to jail for 3 years.

He might be on the hook for some of Trump's crimes that haven't come out yet.

But with this testimony he has shown the media, society and law-enforcement that he still has something of worth to offer.

When he gets out of jail in 3 years, he's GUARANTEED to get interviews and a very good book-deal.

He's pretty much telling everyone what he has told Mueller, and maybe Mueller has even more than Cohen is testifying about.
