Missouri Republican Todd Akin sits on the House Science Committee.

"Sometimes, a fact just hits you like a freight train, and this is one of those times: Missouri Republican Todd Akin sits on the House Science Committee.

Let that sink in for a moment. Todd Akin, who revealed on Sunday that he believes victims of “legitimate rape” can’t get pregnant because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” is one of the Republican Party’s most prominent voices on science.

If we’re going to fight back against extreme views like Todd Akin’s, we need your help right now – please watch the video and then sign our petition denouncing Akin’s comments and demanding support for women’s rights.

With Republican “science experts” like Akin legislating women’s health care choices for them, we need as many people as possible speaking out."

Thank you,

Megan Hannigan
Finance Director
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee

How do these people get on these committees?
