Fox poll has Romney up by one point among likely voters

Among registered voters Obama is up by 2 points.

The last poll had Obama 49, Romney 40 among registered voters.

And tied, 48-48, among "extremely interested voters"

This is what caught my eye from the current report:

Independents back Romney by 42-32 percent (one in four is undecided). Independents were vital to Obama’s 2008 victory, backing him over Republican John McCain by 52-44 percent (Fox News exit poll).

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/23/fox-news-poll-race-for-white-house-tightens/#ixzz24PbtDUBn

"If the presidential election were held today, how would you vote if the candidates were":

Independents: Obama 32, Romney 42

From the last poll:

"If the presidential election were held today, how would you vote if the candidates were":

Independents: Obama 41, Romney 30

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/interactive/2012/08/09/fox-news-poll-presidential-race/

So independents flipped to Romney?

Another thing, what is with these poll reports switching between likely voters and registered voters?

Romney made gains among registered voters, but Obama still leads by 2 points.

The independent numbers are weird.

to the "tightening of the polls". I just looked at TPM, and at Real Clear Politics - and whether it is a delayed Ryan bounce or just the fact that overwhelming lies does eventually embed among the masses....The trajectory just feels off - and because of the stellar combo of Citizens United (unlimited $$) and idiocy/gullibility of so much of the voting public to the way that race and sex cards are being played, a big part of me wants to unplug from it all/ignore it until the conventions are done and debates are under way.

"I just looked at TPM, and at Real Clear Politics - and whether it is a delayed Ryan bounce "

...are factoring in every poll, regardless of how absurd.

For example, the poll averages for Florida include the poll that showed Romney 55 Obama 40 because the poll sample was 90 percent 65 and older. That's 68 percent more than the 2008 election.

McCain won seniors by 8 points in Florida.

Okay, you didn't ask a question. Doesn't matter.

A lot of the 'Independents' where I live (blood red Arizona) have switched from R to I only because... (my best Palin voice) Well, gosh dern it. That GOPEEEE is just not doin' what we told 'em to do so wur just gonna hafta show them we mean business by switching to Independent!

That'll teach 'em!

That could explain some of the funky numbers.

Seriously, I know a lot of 'Independents' that are just plain stubborn. They vote either Republican or Democrat straight ticket, but to actually choose a side would somehow rob them of their dignity or some shit. HOWEVER, I do know some real Indies that could argue either side with some damned good logic. Sadly, one of those 'real' Indies has recently gone on an anti-Republican rant and has declared herself a left-leaning Indie Democrat. Yes, I laughed. She's a feisty little handful, smarter than average and incredibly stubborn.

...switching or which side they're on politically, it's about a 21-point swing from one poll to the next. That's ridiculous.

Nice to see they're so predictable...

I'm seeing links to breitbart, fox. I'm seeing people having fucking meltdowns over some college professors predictions, seeing people pushing Gary Johnson, etc.

It's as if when we get closer, and further ahead, they just can't help themselves. I've been there, done that, with too many elections here. I mean really. a FOX NEWS poll?? wtf?

"I'm seeing people having fucking meltdowns over some college professors predictions, seeing people pushing Gary Johnson, etc."

Maybe you're reading too much into a few concerned posters.

No one has posted the results of the "National Enquirer" poll yet.

that the poll trackers actually use Fox polls. So there is that.

Nothing anyone can do about the consensus among them to do so, but one can point out weird data.
