That sounds like contempt to me.

(13,873 posts)The judge is looking at the end game. If he is not out and fully able to prepare his case it makes it more likely that he can appeal any conviction.
Just give it time. This judge obviously knows what she is doing. It might be part of Stone's strategy to have her put him in jail so he can ask for a recusal and new judge, get sympathy which will help him with fundraising, or have grounds for appeal.

(11,840 posts)I was thinking he should be in jail too, but I am not in the legal field and don't tend to think in those terms. I appreciate your words.

(14,249 posts)Defendants are locked up all the time pre-trial - and not because they're violating court orders or influencing potential jurors but because they don't have money to make bail.
The judge may have her reasons for not putting him behind bars pending trial, but I doubt that it's because she wants to ensure he can prepare for trial.

Justice for some but not for all

(82,849 posts)I don't think anyone would argue that he's not entitled to defend himself. The judge doesn't sound like she's in a particularly indulgent mood toward Roger or his lawyers, and she's going to get answers to a lot of very pointed questions. I suspect that any hedging or dodging by Stone will not be favorably received. Stone's inability to exercise his right to remain silent will probably have him going directly from the courtroom to a jail cell.

(51,627 posts)The judge is giving him until next Monday for his attorneys to explain how they will comply with her gag order as far as his book is concerned. Why doesn't she toss him in jail NOW?

(10,749 posts)is that of jail cell doors. For contempt.
The problem is that these criminals have gotten away with everything for so long they think they're untouchable. They need to go to jail and wither away, forgotten.

(12,265 posts)Roger Stone knows more about Trumper than anyone. He is a real danger to him, he will get him off the hook so stone doesn't care what the judge does to him right now.

(14,176 posts)Why wouldn't she demand it, after the hint that a book was coming out? How would a book (full of lies about his legal predicament) not be a violation?

(14,176 posts)What a nightmare. Its like one of the Godfather's henchmen going on trial knowing that he has a bought off, or otherwise threatened, prosecutor on the other side and knows he is guaranteed to walk. Its sickening. I hope I am wrong. I'd like to watch is smirky goading Marvel villain arrogance be wiped from his face finding out that he will be spending at least 10 years in prison WITHOUT any pardon coming.
