We are a people who have put our love of money over character and wisdom and suffer this stupidity daily.

I don't want to get stopped by the police because I don't trust them to use basic common sense. Luck of the draw.

I don't want to go to court for any reason because I don't trust judges to be fair. It's a crap-shoot.

I don't trust the water department, the utility company, my internet provider, the realtor who sold my mother's house after she died, the insurance salesman (ironic), the hospital, God forbid any of us need an ambulance,...the list goes on and on. With few exceptions, they rip us off the moment we let our guard down.

We are constantly dealing with people who put themselves in positions of authority and then we have to deal with stupid egos and power trips. This kind of shit is evidence this whole modern culture is ready to go under. The internal structures are weak and easily corrupted. Any engineer can tell you that's a recipe for disaster. Along with all that, materialism is rampant with people simply wanting to die before the shit hits the fan. The religious place their bets on the afterlife. As if we don't care about our children, let alone this beautiful world that gives us life...pathetic.

He is a priviledged White man who was sentencing another priviledged White man. If you want to see him throw the book at someone, wait until he get a case where a POC was stealing a few bucks from a federal prison budget, won't matter if the person never even got a parking ticket before stealing the money.

He's a biased judge and the only respect he'll ever get is the kind that can be bought. Wouldn't want to be him, he's a disgrace. Hopefully this is the decision that backfires on him. Won't hold my breath, plenty more republicans need his services.

He recently seem to dislike the concept of mandatory minimum sentences. The DU member who posted an article showed that same Judge went out of his way to avoid imposing an 82 year minimum on a 28 year old defendant that was involved in a serie of cross-state robberies. That defendant appears to have been an African American.

We need more judges of color. Preferably women of color.

Like all the ones in Houston who were elected last year! A slew of women of color were elected in the Houston area last year. Such a great thing.

One exception, though. I think if you're a rich and/or famous person of color, you would get the same treatment as Manafort, even if the judge is a white male. There's something there for him to identify with. A life that could be destroyed by prison time, so they tend to think about that, if the life was a great one, by the judge's standards.

... what a joke, when I take a look at so-called justice, I don't know why I don't start robbing banks and stealing cars ... what the hell, crime is a way of life for Cheeto and his crew ... well, anybody in a high income bracket ... but, oh wait, I would most definitely do time, lots of it ... I'm nobody with no money ... I am so burned out on "the justice system" ... more aptly, the lack of it ...

I wonder who appointed the judge. Or who got to him. It never fails, different rules for different folks.
