This light sentence really hurts.

The 47 months that Manafort received really hurts my heart. It hurts because it stands as another example of how the Justice system in this country is simply different for a rich white man. It makes me ashamed.

This judge is totally in Trump's pocket and spent the whole trial rebuking Mueller.

Manafort potentially faces even more time behind bars. Manafort's judge in DC, US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, has the option of stacking her sentence on top of Ellis's 47-month sentence, or she could run it at the same time. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in his DC case, since each of the two counts carries up to five years in prison.

At least that's what I've read from various lawyers.

Stacking is usually reserved for violent criminals.

Yeah, justice wasn’t served yesterday, and that stinks. But all the same wheels and mechanisms are still in motion. We know by experience that next week could easily bring another issue to the fore, displacing the first Manafort trial fallout to secondary status.

And you’re right, malaise— some of these key crooks are going to prison, and more will be joining them. Convicted criminals. Full stop.

Judge Bruce Wright. The lefty judge who served 25 years in NY, starting in 1970. Labeled "Turn em' loose Bruce"by the media and police, the sentences he gave street criminals were considered too lenient and resulted in a firestorm from the right throughout the seventies. Perhaps if these slaps on the wrist continue for criminals like Manafort and 1% child molester Jeffrey Epstein the left will have to create some firestorms of their own.

If this sentence was from a corrupted judge, and that gets exposed for this, that could change things quickly. It would not surprise me either, by way of threats, or bribes and payoffs it could be investigated if it was corrupted from trump or putin , or the rusian mafia, or others . If they found any dirt on this judge, they used it against him. Thanks for your post on the unfair system, and hopefully it'll be fair , and just to all some day again, not just for the people in power and the corrupt to escape real justice.
