white identity". I've had TV news on for nearly an hour and haven't heard anything about it while it is the lead on many internet sites.

(13,485 posts)But I'm visiting my sister and she does. I watched MSNBC last evening and they were putting up the tRump comments all over the place and pushing the attack moment to moment. Question: is there a difference between MSNBC in the morning compared to the evening? I'm not used to cable news.

(1,588 posts)They want to kill it and keep it secret to protect tRump. tRump will do something today to distract. This is too much attention, especially after his call to arms yesterday because this was very, very, bad.

(209 posts)Why are we constantly asking why the media never does this when it comes to trump/GOP or that when it comes to Dems? My answer: Who owns our media?
Go from there...
the M$M is not our friend. The biggest lie out there is that msnbc is liberal.

(35,362 posts)Question: Was he a Trump supporter?
Answer was mixed: As a symbol of white identity, yes. But his policies? "God, no."
Moreover, there wasn't a suggestion that Trump mattered much to him, or was any kind of motivation. Much less was core, since in 27 pages there was one mention of him, both "yes, as a symbol" but in the next few words a very strong objection to his policies. It was even posed as a sort of denial that Trump was all that important. "Hey, what you did--it's because of Trump, right?" And then a 10-15 word blip that acknowledged but externalized Trump.
Apparently the guy went to NZ to plan the attack. The motivation came from Australian politics; look there, first, if you want understanding and knowledge. There's a strong undercurrent of immigration issues and white identity lurking in Australian politics, what with Aboriginal rights issues, Asian East and SE Asian immigration and concerns over Chinese influence in Australian politics, and a lot of concern in some political circles over Muslim immigration, legal and illegal, from various places that have Islamic insurgencies. Like Afghanistan. the Australians even have a kind of internment camp, mostly for Muslims, in Nauru that's a big domestic issue and predates Trump by a ways. While the guy was in NZ, something motivated him to stage the attack in NZ--perhaps the heightened issues with Chinese campaign meddling, perhaps something dealing with immigration or even Maori rights and power dynamics in NZ politics and society, maybe he just thought it was easier to conduct it in NZ. So look there, second, and then flip one and two if you feel like it or think there's evidence for it. Instead of looking for 5 words in a 27-page document and discarding the rest as an irrelevancy because it doesn't apply to us, because, well, obviously everybody's politics everywhere is really about us.
The news media in the US are often self-absorbed. Internet sites tend to wallow in self-absorbed sensationalism. If you focus on Trump as the cause (tm) of this you'll overlook what's really important in two other rather different countries in order to score cheap sensationalist points. Now, there are parallels, but that's all they are, parallels, and only analogous to the extent that the analogies hold.
5 words in a long all over the place insane dialogue
Not much to go by.
The manifesto taken as whole is some sort of attention seeking troll
If he is gonna press buttons and yank your chain he has to put Trump in there

Go ahead and read it. It's got way more dedicated to how bad capitalism is than that one line on Trump.
The guy is a national socialist. It's pretty shortsighted to focus only on the "national" part of that.
He mentions a lot of things that may sound familiar too. Like the tactic of voting for radical candidates even over incrementalist candidates that are more aligned with your policy goals.

the ones who for years claimed to be the most liberal on DU and spewed hate at Obama and other democrats ended up supporting Trump.

(9,350 posts)CBS This Morning discussed the link between Donald Trump and the shooter. At least one of the anchors read parts of the shooter's manifesto. Also, I read in another post that CNN was pointing out the link between Trump and the shooter.
