(9,426 posts)Beautiful photos. I do not envy the judges, what a terrible decision to have to make, when all of them are so very good. Congratulations to the winners, and also to everyone else for taking such beautiful photos.

(22,380 posts)please tell a little about where and how you got those glorious, funny, perfect shots. And Maru Kitteh the Montana Mornings photograph makes me want to put on my traveling shoes, but in late spring and early summer. All of these are the best of the best, and I loved them from the onset of submissions.
I hope I answered you in my post

(751 posts)My wife's birthday falls near MLK day and we've gone to Yellowstone NP to celebrate her birthday a couple of times. I got a number of great shots of the park and it truly is a different experience in the winter with no crowds vs. the summer with too many people. When we first entered the park there was a herd of bison covered in snow but I didn't get any good shots. I made some adjustments to my camera at lunch and when we were on our way out of the park, came upon another herd and I got shots that weren't so blurry.
I would like to know where in MT Maru Kitteh's photo was shot?

(28,340 posts)taken from the same campground posted on tripadvisor.
This is a panorama from the same morning but there's just so much resolution loss with a limit of 1027 pixels
Here is Wild Goose Island (much) later that same morning (could use a little editing too)

(751 posts)I have stood in the same spot and taken pictures. I didn't recognize it with the clouds. I loved your shot, congratulations on second place.

(751 posts)I've driven by it but didn't know it was there. Next time we head that way, I'll have to make sure to check it out.

You could not ever had arranged it any better. A photo never to forget Thanks for it.

(28,340 posts)You can find yourself under a blanket of snow quite unexpectedly at any time in Glacier National Park.
It can be over 100F in the sun in July/August. Even then, you'd better have some cold-weather gear packed, and never rule out a bit of snow.

There were so many wonderful photos in this contest! It was truly difficult to vote for just one.
I believe this contest makes us better photographers, not only for the challenge, but viewing the works of others is not only inspiring but also a learning experience.
