A new survey of the networks watchers reveal the hard core of the Republican Party and how hopeless it is for Democrats to try and court them.

Almost 8 in 10 Republicans who watch Fox News say Donald Trump is the most successful president in history.
That was just one finding of a new poll showing the deep ideological divide between Fox News viewers and everyone else. The poll results were provided to The Daily Beast by Navigator, a project launched by Democratic groups Global Strategy Group and GBA strategies. They surveyed more than 1,000 registered voters online with the goal of examining the differences in views between Fox News viewers and non-Fox viewers.
It comes after Democratic strategists have debated whether candidates and officeholders should appear on Trumps favorite cable news channel to win over its regular viewers. Candidates like Sen. Amy Klobuchar have deliberately made efforts to speak to Fox News viewers, and the Democratic National Committee briefly entertained the idea of hosting a debate on Fox News before deciding against it.
But Thursdays survey shows why many in the party have largely written off the networks viewers as a lost cause.
The surveys authors argue that the network presents an alternate reality in American politics, and plays an outsized role in the way many experience and form opinions on the most important issues facing the country.

Also keep in mind that these people are the product of genetics and upbringing. You can't just point at someone and tell them to "be a better person" and expect them to do things that you think make them a better person.
One can only think that there must be a whole lot of idiots in this country.

(26,060 posts)So less than 1% of Americans are unthinking imbeciles. Didn't we already know that? And yes, it's a complete waste of time and brain power to try and reach them - they're hopeless. Aim for the independents.

(3,168 posts)It is literally what the National Enquirer would look like if it was on TV. The people you see on the network are not journalists - they are actors on a set. The only person that I can even half-way stand is Shep Smith, and sometimes I wonder why he even bothers to go to work!
Democrats cannot win over hardcore Fox viewers. Even if a Dem went on one of the shows and spoke rationally about any topic, the next night the show would joke about the crazy socialist liberal we had on last night, and they would probably find some out-of-context clip to play over and over again.
Who the heck are these "Democratic strategists" who have to debate about this? Since when are Democrats supposed to worry about courting Republican voters? That is a recipe for failure. Are Republicans ever expected to reach out to Democratic voters? Where's all the angst from the other side about appealing to Democrats in California or New York?
Alan Grayson said it best: "You can't beat a Republican by trying to BE one!"

(3,011 posts)Fox viewers are getting a daily diet of positively glowing reports of this embattled president who left a successful business life to commit his life to public service.
He is praised by his followers and that is ALL they hear.
The headline should read "IN THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE OF FOX WORLD, TRUMP IS BELOVED"
I live with a Fox viewer. I ask often, did you hear.....(whatever the shocking behavior was that day). She has no idea. But, she does hear about an immigrant who killed a white girl, etc.
We underestimated the destructiveness of right wing propaganda.

I have said many times, I wish Michelle Obama would run. She could win and be great in her own right.

Takes over a prospering economy, slowly winding down wars, low unemployment, and these drones think in 2 years that he's the best ever?!?!?
And wait; I thought they wanted to make america great AGAIN. Well if it was great before, somebody gets the credit, and they're still wearing those stupid hats, then we're not "great" again, yet.
So they trapped themselves with their own idiotic rhetoric!
