The sickness of whiteness

Has anyone else listened to the latest Chris Hayes podcast? You need to. Interesting - very much so. Concerning - even more so. Gist is that life expectancy has dropped for the last 3 years amongst white men and it explores the intersection between self interest and being a Trump supporter. Looks like they will vote against their own self interests, even when it is cutting their life expectancy to hold unto the idea of whiteness. The Q is what can the offer be from the democrats in 2020 when they know they can get a better deal for themselves if they vote differently, but they are so embedded to the Trump philosophy this takes precedence. What offer can you make them in those circumstances, because you cannot give them what they most want = white is right, brown is dangerous.

An American medic was treating a German soldier who needed a blood transfusion. The German soldier refused the transfusion unless the medic could guarantee that the blood donor had not been Jewish. "I would rather die than have Jewish blood in me" the German soldier said.

The American shrugged and moved on to help someone else. The German soldier died.

The German soldier's mindset is exactly what white Trump supporters believe. And it's what's killing them.

trump has radicalized the moldy oldy, Civil War loving Southerners and other RW white nationalist factions who are not in any way main stream Americans ... I believe that this is their last gasp. Strong, yes, but they are over when we stand together!
