Trump's Fate Now Squarely in the Hands of Voters

March 27, 2019 at 9:33 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball: “As usual, the presidential outcome will depend heavily on factors beyond the full control of anyone, such as the state of the economy. Democrats only control who they nominate and what they emphasize in the campaign. The long campaign can give them the opportunity to size up the contenders and (they hope) choose the one with the best chance against Trump. Or they could pick another George McGovern, Walter Mondale, or Michael Dukakis — weak nominees, all. On policy, Democrats have a wide variety of subjects that could allow them to make a favorable contrast with Trump: climate change, health care, and economic fairness, just to mention three. The message and the messenger will be critical. The Democrats did not really run on the Mueller probe in the 2018 campaign, and for the most part, the 2020 candidates haven’t really been doing that either. Now the Democratic contenders will certainly not do so, though other investigations of Trump may bear fruit and become campaign fodder.”

“2020 should be a close, competitive, high-turnout election with both sides energized, given what we know today. But lots of factors can tilt the result one way or another. What’s not going to change is Donald Trump. People decided a long time ago what they thought of him, and it has hardened into concrete for the millions who love him as well as the millions who hate him. While we do not know in detail what the full Mueller report will say, the Barr summary, whatever its biases and omissions, suggests what we already thought was the likeliest scenario: The fate of the Trump presidency is on track to be decided at the ballot box, as opposed to a courtroom or impeachment proceeding. That may be a good thing or a bad thing, but like Coca-Cola, it’s the real thing.”

We just don't have to win, we have to win by a landslide. You KNOW he is gonna try to pull some shit saying the election was rigged against him... Worst case is martial law and him not leaving...

There is absolutely nothing and no one who will stop him. He literally could pull out a Glock and shoot someone on national television and no one in the Republican party will lift a finger.

No more waiting for anyone else to do it. Vote him out, him and all his minions.

Nothing has been done to fix what is obviously a broken voting system, rife with security vulnerabilities and hackers who take full advantage of them, corrupt in itself with candidates running elections while holding state offices, filthy with dirty dark money, violating voting rights almost as a right in itself.

2020 will definitely tell us all we need to know about maga. "Believe me!"

I am beginning to believe that we the voters have no power at all. Or at least we won't by the time Trump and his henchmen are done hacking what is left of our democracy.

1) Health Care....What will I do if I no longer have the ACA and I need medical attention? Why should I vote for the candidate who TOOK AWAY my only access to Health Insurance and care?

2) Climate Change...The planet is warming. Natural resources are running out in parts of the world. Extreme weather cycles are destroying communities. Garbage is everywhere.

3) Jobs that pay living wages...Too many people are still working several jobs in order to pay rents, student loans, Food, etc.

4) The Economy is slowing down...The Stock Market is showing erratic ups and downs. The prospect with retiring with dignity is flying out the window.

5) The futures of Social Security and Medicare....For Seniors, this is an important issue. The candidate who proposes PRIVATIZING or cutting these Insurance programs will lose.

These are IMPORTANT points to consider. It is plainly obvious that the Party of Trump does not care about the people, their needs, or about the country as a whole.

Is it assuming that we are to ignore what Trump has done as president? Are we to ignore the Mueller report, which we haven't seen yet, and accept the Barr report?

I say bullshit. It's over when we say it's over. If it comes to Nov. 2020 then so be it, but it is a long way to Nov. 2020. Shitler and his band of Nazis need to be called out today and every day until Nov. 2020.

Screw talking about the election, I'm talking about traitors who are running our country.

1. The pressure will be on Trump and the Repugs to suppress votes, cheat and steal this election and accept help again from a foreign entity like Russia because it would provide 4 more years of protection for Trump from any legal issues. He would get a chance to run out the clock (statute of limitations). He and the Repugs will pull out all the stops to win in 2020.

2. We can't make this election just about Trump. We have to run against the Repugs (whatever definition you want to give this Party). It can't just be a personality contest - Democratic Nominee vs Trump. It has to be the Dems Vision of this Country vs the Repugs Vision of this Country. We have to run against the Repugs. We need to win on the issues. In 2016 - it was more of a personality contest - Hillary vs Trump.

3. We as Dems need to stick together and no matter who are nominee is - we have to rally around her/him. We can't let the Repugs and their minions divide us as a Party and pit OUR favorite candidate against ANOTHER DEMS favorite candidate. We can't afford another Bernie/Hillary feud like in 2016. The goal is to put a Dem in the WH. Everything we should be doing as a Party is to reach that goal.

4. As we proceed through this Primary Season - we have to be vigilant of social media campaigns and MSM talking heads trying to divide us as a Party. This point relates to #3 above. If any of us see this happening - we need to expose any tainting of Dem Candidates for the purpose of dividing us as a Party. We need to keep our eye on the prize. The goal is to put a Dem in the WH. We know going into this that - so far - our candidates are pretty solid and consistent with each others visions. Sure there are some nuances on the issues that each candidate has now as they run against each other and vie for the nomination. Any of those nuances/differences - can and will be worked out once we achieve our goal of getting a Dem in the WH.

I'm for the democrat that wins the primary. They all have good points. I'm not picky just as long as we get the shit stain out of office.
We need to call out ANY funny business with the elections like RIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENS.
If it smells funny, looks funny and acts funny call it out as a problem. You KNOW the russians, chinese and saudi's will want to effect our election to their benefit. uggh..
The goal is to put a Dem in the WH !!!
