I wonder if the simplest way to stop Trump in his tracks would be for the NY state Attorney General

to indict the Trump organization for various crimes. There already appears to be evidence in some of the Michael Cohen matters (the Trump org was involved in the Stormy payoff).

As a state prosecution, it wouldn't be subject to any approval by William Barr. And Trump couldn't pardon his Org for any state crimes.

And a NY state action wouldn't send any decision about indicting a sitting President to the Supreme Court, because it would be his organization that's indicted, not he.

But it would keep him very, very busy . . .

It would be nice if it could happen before November 2020.

for cheating on his state taxes, and cheating on insurance claims, and defrauding banks on the value of his properties for loans, and wire fraud, and god knows what else.

about even a state AG being able to indict a sitting President.

I'm not saying she shouldn't do that. But all she has to do to quickly pop his balloon is to indict his organization for crimes that occurred while he was in charge. Then he could be an "unindicted co-conspirator." That wouldn't send him straight to prison, but it would be a good first step.

Not a federal law so I don't believe it applies to a state indictment...and even if he is protected by the courts, his children aren't!

New York can still indict Don Jr. Eric, and Ivanka.

Also, under NY law the Attorney General has the authority to shut down a business...shut down his business and he'll be on Twitter 24/7...who knows maybe his fast food habit will finally catch up to him!!!

For example, we wouldn't have wanted some Alabama prosecutor going after Obama for something, right?

But, yes, there is nothing to stop NY from indicted the three older Trump children. I hope they do.

The Trump crime family has been allowed to act in this way for many years.

But white collar crime, especially if the criminal is white and connected, is not prosecuted as much as the crime of selling loose cigarettes while black.

Or driving with a broken tail light while black.

take a look at any corporate scandal in recent years. Enron, Pharma-Bro, MCI, etc.

All of them took about 6+ years to investigate and jail the perpetrators.

So not so much November of 2020, but more likely November of 2025.

I don't see any reason to believe that any serious investigations began before the fall of 2016.

Would there be a Mueller report if he didn't win in November 2016? Of course not.

If he had been under serious investigation prior to 2016, there would be plenty to read about it.
