Trump postpones healthcare-reform to after 2020 election.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-healthcare/trump-says-vote-on-healthcare-can-wait-until-after-2020-election-idUSKCN1RE07O

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he was willing to wait until after the 2020 presidential election to get Congress to vote on a new healthcare plan, giving Republicans time to develop a proposal to replace Obamacare.

Congressional Republicans have been unable thus far to draft a proposal to replace Democratic President Barack Obama’s signature Affordable Care Act despite frequent vows to do so in recent years.

...

In a series of tweets on Monday night, Trump said Republicans are developing “a really great HealthCare Plan with far lower premiums (cost) & deductibles than Obamacare.”

“In other words it will be far less expensive & much more usable than ObamaCare. Vote will be taken right after the Election when Republicans hold the Senate & win back the House,” he said.

Recycling a campaign-promise from his 2016 campaign? Yeah, that will work.

He might as well try to run on bringing coal back and on infrastructure-reform. And I think he actually might.

So much easier to promote something that is heaven on earth than the measily miserly disgraceful health care plan they will likely come up with, if they ever do. Social programs are not in the Republican DNA.

Obamcare and a new bill. No, thank you. Republicans have had 100 years to make a plan.

Richard Nixon wanted health care for all but did nothing about it.

Trump also said they had to win back the House and increase the Senate.

And start dying or going into major debt, and the they’ll “fix” it. That’ll work.

aside from the individual mandate, I guess. Separately, the key parts of ACA like coverage for pre-exiting conditions always polled well.

Repubs can't come up with a replacement because ACA is based heavily on a Repub, Heritage Foundation plan, modified to be used by Massachussetts and then went national with Obamacare.

More like a thinning of the herd. No trumpanzees alive to vote. Mesothelioma, black lung, fracking waste drinking water, no vaccines, toxic air, plutonium waste, gulf fish, Monsanto plants saturated in roundup, and no health care to help. MAGA. Freedom! But....lots of guns and ammo to go after the tyrannical GOVment that wants to correct all that with socialism. God be blessin MurKKKa. Oh....caravans of raping, murdering, drug hauling women and children coming to get you, (Christian Refugees, ya know like Mary and Joseph). MAGA.lock her up!!!

because his plan is to sell junk insurance. No way his deductibles will be lower unless his plan doesn't cover anything, which is a possibility.

Remember, Trump is a good con man, his insurance will be wonderful for people who don't need to use it.

Trump didn't do this one. There's a massive spread in the cost of premiums and deductibles. from one company to another for the same exact mandated benefits. That's been going on since at least Obama's presidency. I assume they're trying to move us to Advantage plans that are priced lower now but will no doubt zoom up any time now. It's just bidness.

By 2021 they will have a plan to replace the 2010 healthcare law. They will start working on it right after the next embarrassing defeat of an election.

Unless they hire the Russians to count the votes again.

There's an old joke. A guy wakes up from a coma after five years and finds a dry-cleaning ticket in his pocket. He goes to the dry cleaners and says, "I left this suit five years ago and fell into a coma." The dry cleaner looks at the ticket and tells him, "It'll be ready Thursday."

That is the Republican healthcare plan.

Now they're waiting for Trumpy's magic formula for giving them heaven on earth. It's all magic. It's chutzpah. Were Trumpy to inject all of his followers with typhoid, they'd demand to get wheeled to the voting booth on gurneys with temps of 104 and pull the lever for Trumpy, just because he's "shaking things up." And he'll say that he's run out of money to give them aspirin, but that's okay. He'll come up with aspirin money next year. And if his Fans die before then? Well, he'll have less money to spend on aspirin.

So instead of ripping the bandaids off now, and going into 2020 with the voter thinking “this fight is over”....

NOW the Democrats can stand up there in 2020 and say “their plan is so awful they don’t even want to talk about in public, but I’m here to defend the ACA”.

This is a win for Democrats. Voters don’t want to hear “vote for me but I don’t want to say what I’m planning until after the election”.
