Respectable Businessman "Allegedly" Rapes 15-year-old Girl>

A local business owner accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in the storeroom of his convenience store was bound over for trial Tuesday at 33rd District Court in Woodhaven.

A trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 17 at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice in Detroit.

The man was bound over after a preliminary examination of the evidence in which the girl described the moments leading up to being raped by Rakeshkumar B. Patel, a 48-year-old man who neighborhood children call “Rocky.”

Patel, of Canton, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a juvenile between the ages of 13 to 15, one count of criminal sexual conduct of force or coercion, and one count of selling/furnishing alcohol to a minor. The girl reported to police on Nov. 26 Patel had raped her early that morning.

The girl testified before Judge Jennifer Coleman Hesson, recounting the night she was allegedly assaulted.

This occurred in Michigan, not Jersey. I can't post it in LBN because it's from yesterday, and therefore more than 12 hours old. But you know what? I'm glad I don't have to post the bland and bloodless "actual title" of this horrifying news story about a moneyed, powerful man taking advantage of a kid!

Your OP would NOT qualify for LBN - it is not of NATIONAL interest.

Local crime/trial stories unless they are 'huge' do not go into LBN.

Thank you for your time

I am a woman, I am also a Host of the LBN forum.
I was just passing on some useful advice to you since I've seen many 'rape' OPs (of local interest)
that have been posted in LBN locked due to not conforming to the LBN SOP.

Here's a link to the LBN Statement of Purpose (SOP): http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=about&forum=1014
Just passing that along in case anyone hasn't seen it as of yet.

An article about trends in rape prosecutions, national statistics, etc might be LBN since those address an important topic on a broad level. Individual rapes - like individual murders - are horrible but usually do not rise to the level of national interest.

instead of headlining it as "assaulting a minor" or "molesting" or any of the other euphemisms they use.

nothing enrages me more than the maliciousness of child rape and/or pedophilia.

As far as I am concerned, consenting adults are free to engage in any vile or perverted activity of their choosing. But if their activities involve children, animals or force, their future activities must be restricted to to the confines of a cage.
