Ocasio-Cortez takes shot at Kushner over alleged WhatsApp use

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday appeared to take a shot at White House senior adviser Jared Kushner for his alleged used of WhatsApp to conduct official government business, asking if sharing the nuclear codes via Instagram direct message would be next.

"We are getting reports from the press and from a wide variety of sources that indicate that... we are conducting foreign relations with folks with security clearances via WhatsApp," Ocasio-Cortez said at a House Oversight and Reform committee hearing on White House security clearances.

"I mean every day that we go on without getting to the bottom of this matter is a day that we are putting hundreds, if not potentially thousands of Americans at risk. I mean, really. What is next? Putting nuclear codes in Instagram DM?"

"This is ridiculous," Ocasio-Cortez added and called on lawmakers to get to the bottom of alleged wrongdoing from the Trump administration when it comes to granting security clearances.

What will go unremarked about Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's questions is why nobody else is asking these highly pertinent questions. Not the Republicans, who were just bonkers on secure communications during the "But her emails" days. Not the media, who faithfully parroted the lines about private servers that mighta coulda (but weren't) hacked. Not the "independent" voters, whose doubts about secure communications continued to linger even after it was a public fact that Clinton's private server turned out to be more secure than many government servers. Not the intelligence community, which couldn't generate enough clouds to hover over Candidate Clinton's campaign.

Now? Jared Kushner, Man of Action Without Portfolio, does nobody knows what with nobody knows who, and official Washington can't even be bothered to yawn.

At one point I remember reading they were connected to the Kushner company server . . . which seems worse to me than having a private server in your basement.
