Rep. Ken Buck: Gays, Nazis, Same Difference

We’re picking our jaws up off the floor after being sent the video clip you can see above featuring GOP Rep. Ken Buck, the newly-elected chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, questioning a witness testifying on behalf of HR5, the Equality Act–a bill introduced in the U.S. House to amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to protect Americans from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in addition the basis of race, sex, religion, and national origin. Colorado already has discrimination protection enshrined in law for LGBT residents, but federal law has never been updated to match the protection that already exists here and in many states.

From Rep. Buck’s questioning of this witness, it’s pretty clear he doesn’t respect Colorado’s version of the law:

Gay and lesbian couples can be picked out when they fill out the required paperwork.
And why would a Nazi want to be seen by a person he would consider to be very inferior?

country who don't understand why these protections for these groups is so important (disabled, female, those with disabilities, the elderly, etc., the list goes on and on) are still needed from the likes of people like this? I hope this congressman gets some flack from his voters, that is, if he even pays attention to them (a lot of republicans don't). He deserves it.

On wife #2, having cheated on wife #1, and has these views.

Buck believes that being gay is a choice. He said, "I think birth has an influence over it, like alcoholism ... but I think that basically you have a choice."

Buck opposes abortion, including in cases of rape and incest, but makes exceptions if the mother's life is in danger.
