HPV vaccine linked to 'dramatic' drop in cervical disease

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-scotland-47803975?__twitter_impression=true

The routine vaccination of girls with the HPV vaccine in Scotland has led to a "dramatic" drop in cervical disease in later life, new research suggests.

Human papilomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection and some types are linked to cervical cancer.

Researchers said the vaccine has nearly wiped out cases of cervical pre-cancer in young women since an immunisation programme was introduced 10 years ago.

They found the vaccine had led to a 90% cut in pre-cancerous cells.

And they said the effects of the programme had "exceeded expectations".

It's fun to read back through some of DU's Gardasil threads.

Oh, and their mothers too!

That garbage sounds like the ramblings of a bitter ex-incel with a string of D's in science.

There's lots of cancer prophylaxis we do that doesn't seem to actually decrease the cancer rate -- this does.

Somehow being Christians means being against this vaccine because it encourages promiscuity. I became a little heated and stated several times that it was a vaccine for cancer and promiscuous behavior had nothing to do with it. Birth control that one coworker, s daughter uses was alright as it was for a medical reason due to her periods.

The logic defies description. I always hear, I'm a Christian, as an explanation as if it answeres every question.

well, two of the three...the other isn't old enough yet.

Vaccines save lives. I think that some of the anti-vaxxers simply have never known anyone who had polio or who died of a preventable disease. Too young, I guess.

Now that the threat of cancer from having sex has been removed, girls are going to start having sex daily with numerous partners and will be breeding like New Zealand rabbits and the Earth will be overpopulated in a couple of decades. Because girls are sex-crazed and will do it all the time unless you somehow prevent them with dire threats.

I heard this at a tent revival, so it must be true.
