When the Rethugs create rules to try to hamstring Democrats, Democrats

need to start figuring out ways to turn the rules around to their benifit.

As an example, visiting detention facilities. It appears that these facilities have a set number of days notice that has to be given before a Democrat can visit. This was an idea that I thought of while walking my dog this morning.

A Democrat staffer needs to contact each facility in writing to learn the required notification period for that facility and obtain the email address where such notifications need to go.

Then the staffer needs to develop a mass email list of where the notifications should go.

Then the staffer needs to develop a template that could be used for all the facilities with one email.

On a daily basis, the staffer could submit written notification of the Congressperson's or Senator's intent to visit. That notification needs to be sent out every single day, consistently. Once you are passed the required notification time period, as long as you maintain a rolling notification program, the member of Congress would be free to visit any of the facilities at a date of his/her choosing as a facility would be on perpetual notification of said visit.

Now, if you could get every Democrat Rep's or Senator's office to participate, it would drive the other side totally nuts. They would never know who or where someone would show up. That is the bonus effect.

When a member of Congress shows up at a site, he/she pulls out a copy of the email stating the notification period and a copy of the email that matches x number of day prior to the visit. The Congressperson would have met the notification requirement while, at the same time, being able to have total control of where and when they go.

Granted, however, Republicans make things up and it takes time to untangle the enforcement of the Constitution piece of the puzzle. This is by design and needless delays are part of the larger plan.

all the information that you need.

I routinely send out mass emails for projects that I work on. It takes me less than 5 minutes to launch the email. All you need is a mass email list for the detentions centers and a template for the email. You start an email, select the mass email list, copy and paste the body of the email, select request a delivery report and submit the email. Let it percolate and print of and scan in the receipts into 1 pdf file. It really would not take that long.

Is the statement that it would take 2 years to get the parents and children together. Why did they separate them in the first place, with no ID bracelets. Also are these children going to be kept in wire cages for two years, this is inhuman. What about school? Also imagine a small child who does not know when they have a birthday, has no normal stuff like treats or birthday presents.
They are being treated like animals and I do not think they can recover.

Hey, that’s how the fighting is done now. Wrong or right. So why don’t WE fight to win like that? If we keep bringing feather dusters to gun fights, and the other side brings Sherman tanks, how are we ever going to win anything. The other side WON’T play fair. Just simply won’t. So why do WE have to?

Unless we don’t care about winning?

Because if you don’t win, you don’t get to govern. If you don’t win, you don’t get to set the agenda.
If you don’t win, you don’t get to run things. You don’t get to make the rules. You don’t get to lead. You don’t get to have your way over the other side. You don’t get to chair the committees, and set the standards and issue the subpoenas and overrule the opposition and everything that comes with it.

Hell, we had the White House for eight years and the weasels in the party-our-of-power STILL got their way in the Senate, STILL checkmated our President who had the White House for eight years, STILL somehow got what THEY wanted and prevented him from getting what OUR side wanted. (Hello Merrick Garland, for example.)

Because they think deviously. And they’re ruthless. And they make it work - for THEMSELVES and THEIR side and THEIR agenda.

I sure wish OUR side did it that way.

Under what authority are any such "detention facilities" entitled to prior notice if a member of Congress exercises their statutory right to enter and inspect?

Seriously, what is the precise statutory basis for this claim?

I would like to see it.
