"Did you hear Donald Trump say at his rally about how he is the only one who can stop the Old Ones?"

"Whoa, if that's the case, then we need to rally behind him!"

That's one example of something to do with a friend around a group of Trump supporters if they will believe anything he says.

Let's see how true it is, let's push it to the limit.

Makes up feel good for a second that we can see the absurdity, but all it does is spread the lie around.

and be driven insane by it, etc. (although who could tell, really? he's already a gibbering fucking moron)

In a somewhat similar vein, the movie Independence Day (about a hostile alien invasion of the Earth and such) was on cable the other day and it got me thinking, what if it was Individual 1 in the WH in that movie instead of Bill Pullman?

Or in a broader sense, what would happen if there is some situation that calls for genuine leadership (obviously there are several of these situations already, but I mean one that we can no longer pretend doesn't exist--climate change is becoming increasingly such a situation, but for now the powers that be are still able to pretend it isn't there, and the public mostly lets them...for now).

But I mean some kind of acute, short-term crisis that calls for someone to step up and take decisive action, and reassure the public, etc. Like the alien invasion in the movie. But I mean, really, any kind of actual crisis--we really haven't had any in the past couple of years (aside from the whole criminal conspiracy and theft of the election, and the ongoing and catastrophic erosion of everything I thought America was supposed to be about...but I mean, a third of the population is into all of that, so it doesn't constitute the kind of thing I mean), and all of Individual 1's problems are basically self-inflicted.

I don't know. I try not to be too pessimistic, but goddamn it, the forces of evil sure do seem to have a strong hold on the reins of power in far too many places all over the planet.

Somebody like Bannon or Miller is feeding him these crazy lines. Most TrumpHumpers won't get it either.
