My guess is that Eric Prince will be nominated and fill out the SS with his own guys...who can be counted on not to be bothered by ethics or laws.

(268,998 posts)There could be terrorists assigned to former Presidents - there could be spies assigned to our former Presidents and there could be assassins assigned to former Presidents and other officials.
The entire bureaucracy is being smashed before our eyes.

So, yeah, I'd expect to see some "mysterious" deaths.
Wouldn't it be nice to think that the senate wouldn't confirm someone unqualified or just plain dishonest! I know, funny, right?
Remember when we used to be able to believe that the opposition was wrong, but not trying to destroy the entire system?

(7,820 posts)To appoint Acting heads to nearly all agencies rather than permanent ones who have to be confirmed.
Back in 2016 Ttump was very annoyed that he could not have his own personal security detail. He has hamstrung the Secret Service and ultimately they answer to him.
I am not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch of the imagination but I truly believe that Trump will attempt to hire Erik Princes company to protect him in 2020. Trumps knows he doesn't have the votes to carry him in 2020. so he has already sowed the seeds of illegals voting in an attempt to delegitimize the elections. He also knows the military will not support him if he attempts to use them to protect him. This administration is about two things, total control over the government and money.
Eric Prince is only loyal to the people that pay him. He is a pure sociopath and he has no problem with killing Americans. This man lied to Congress with a smile on his face. Ask Iraqi veterans how they feel about Blackwater and you will get some interesting answers.
Lastly Steven Miller is Trumps Himmler and whatever Miller suggests Trump is likely to do. We are in for a bumpy ride.

It's very curious to me, your attitude adjustment of late. And not to the good, either.

(42,703 posts)Alles, the fired Secret Service director was the first director who hadn't previously been with the Secret Service. He was an John Kelly associate whose background was ex-Marine and ex-Customs and Border Patrol.
Murray, the newly appointed director, is a career Secret Service employee with a background in financial crimes enforcement, which is actually one of the major responsibilities of the Secret Service dating back to its origins.
I suspect that if Murray had been the current director and he was fired and replaced with Alles -- that might be a better cause for freaking out than what just happened.

(42,703 posts)Most people think that the Secret Service does one thing: Protect the President and other government officials (and foreign officials within the US).
But the protective responsibilities of the Secret Service are only one part of the agency's mission. It has, from its earliest days, had a major role to play in addressing financial crimes, starting with counterfeiting, but expanding over time. Today, the responsibilities of its Financial Crimes Division include crimes that involve financial institution fraud, computer and telecommunications fraud, false identification documents, access device fraud, advance fee fraud, electronic funds transfers, and money laundering.
It should be added that elevating Murray to the head of the Secret Service is a return to the longstanding practice of having someone from within the agency become its head. Alles, the guy just fired, was (I believe) the first Secret Service director who had never worked for the agency. His background was military and Customs and Border Patrol.
I would imagine that if things were reversed -- if Murray had been the previous Secret Service director and he had been fired and replaced by an ex-Marine with a Customs and Border enforcement background and no previous Secret Service experience, heads would (arguably with good reason) be exploding here.
