Another possibility is this news itself is spy vs. spy disinformation.
They don't want the other side to know what they know.
Let them think their silly little dongle tried to do its job and self destructed.

(3,626 posts)I've cleaned up several infected thumb drives on my work PC, which always gets autorun turned off first thing when I upgrade the OS.

(42,757 posts)Bad guys would buy smaller ones by the hundreds and install their malware on them and leave them in places where people would pick them up and try them on their own PC. Then they would wonder why their computer is acting funny ... if it worked at all.
I guess the Secret Service didn't get the memo.
