WASHINGTON President Trump moved to replace the top ranks of the Department of Homeland Security on Monday, a day after forcing the resignation of its secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen, as he accelerated a purge of the nations immigration and security leadership.
The White House announced the departure of Randolph D. Alles, the director of the Secret Service, who had fallen out of favor with the president even before a security breach at his Mar-a-Lago club that the agency effectively blamed on Mr. Trumps employees.
Government officials, who asked not to be identified discussing personnel changes before they were announced, said at least two more top department figures were expected to leave soon as well: L. Francis Cissna, the head of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and John Mitnick, the departments general counsel and a senior member of Ms. Nielsens leadership team.
The latest shake-up came just a day after Mr. Trump pushed out Ms. Nielsen during a Sunday afternoon meeting at the White House for not doing enough in his view to secure the border. And it came three days after Ronald D. Vitiello, the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the presidents nominee to take the job permanently, was told to step aside so the administration could go in a tougher direction, as Mr. Trump put it.

Sounds like the pencil neck Nazi is whispering in Trump's ear.
Joseph Stalin purged a lot of his generals. Consequently Germany had a fairly easy time during the early part of their invasion of Russia.

(7,633 posts)He keeps replacing top brass with his own stooges, ignores the law, ask others to break and ignore the law. People will say I'm over reacting but that's how dictators get in power. We have already established that Trump is above the law. So far, he has managed to lock down the whole check and balance thing with the help of the GOP and his own appointed henchmen.
If nothing is done, he will keep pushing further and one day it will be too late.

(2,331 posts)The people he fired were the people that stood in the way of him doing some really insane things that would turn public perception of him quite quickly.
He ordered the border ports closed and they talked him out of it. If he would have followed through with his plan the economy of Texas would crater rather quickly. The only way they sold him on not doing it was Governor Abbot was a supporter and was asking him not to do it.
The detentions of children was vastly unpopular as well. I have no clue why he wants to go down that road again.

As an agent for Russia his mandate is clear. And screwing up comes natural for trump.
