Harvey LeRoy "Lee" Atwater (February 27, 1951 – March 29, 1991) was an American political consultant and strategist for the Republican Party. He was an adviser to US presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush and chairman of the Republican National Committee. Atwater aroused controversy through his aggressive campaign tactics.

1. Yikes! I read part of his Wiki page, he sounds like the the Rethugs of today, minus

one detail I don't think we would see today.
It piqued my curiosity that he had died so young. He died of brain cancer at the age of 40.
Shortly before his death, he apologized to Michael Dukakis for a smear campaign he ran against him. I realize he did this likely because, he knew he was dying. I still don't think this new batch would apologize even under these extreme circumstances.
