Mueller and the Special Counsel had no input in that summary or the follow up letter.
And he does not intend to go to court to release some sections.
My intention is not to ask the Court. So there!

He used weasel wordsbecause he had no answers.

Love how all the stations are discussing during the ReTHUGs' obfuscation
George II
(67,782 posts)It eliminated the possibility of "Mueller concluding....xxxx, yyyy, zzzz" being used by trump to say "I'm exonerated". Even without
the summary explicitly saying he was exonerated he's trying to say that.
Imagine if Mueller had any input?
malaise
(269,050 posts)He declined
George II
(67,782 posts)....he would have ruined his position of impartiality.
Now, when the time comes, he can dispute the summary.

(111,102 posts)Mueller told him point blank that he could not "exonerate" Mr Trump. Otherwise, why would Mr Barr put that sentence in his letter??

(54,770 posts)like as soon as he finished that report, he was done. Don't think he was being shrewd necessarily, I think he was over with the whole mess and was out of there.

(7,142 posts)if Democrats hold hearings to impeach Trump he will release the grand jury information to Congress.
Also, the vast majority of the juicy information is going to be contained in the grand jury hearings, that's why Barr isn't releasing any of it.
I don't know but it may be time for Speaker Pelosi to bring impeachment back on the table, the information from the grand juries is too important to bury. Politics be damned.

(5,754 posts)that they had no plans to hold impeachment hearings until Barr forced them to. Right?

(1,201 posts)massive amounts of power to investigate. We get Mueller report, tax returns and will restrict presidents power while proceedings are happening. The majority of citizens are demanding impeachment and accountability so Pelosi no longer has an excuse to refuse to impeach.

(2,191 posts)Barr said that he's not involved in the redactions for grand jury information. Mueller and other prosecutors are redacting information concerning ongoing cases and uncharged people.
If Mueller doesn't want Congress seeing unredacted information right away, than *I* don't want them see it. There are still a lot of bad actors in Congress. Of course, there's no way of knowing whether Trump has ordered his friends in Congress to see the full report.
If Nadler wants to sue to get the unredacted report, then he can do that, as Barr said.

Barr is droll and boring, seemed much less animated than during his Attorney General hearing.

(6,254 posts)members in Congress are. I recall a republican Senator, cant recall who, but an older one being interviewed and talking about the fairness doctrine like it still existed. Many live in the same Fox world as their constituents. As do many federal judges like the one who sentenced Manafort.
