The photos of caged children that initially circulated to demonstrate how evil Trump was were pictures taken in 2014, during the Obama administration.

The circumstances are different - and we need to explain that. Trump's policy intentionally separate minors from their parents, as opposed to Obama policies that held children already separated.

But denying that children were caged during Obama's presidency (after gettting egg on our face for attributing atrocious Obama-era images to Trump in the firs place) is a very bad move for a party that asserts it is reality-based.

Obama's immigration policies are not a shining star in his presidency. It was wrong under Obama (whatever the reason), and Trump changed it for the worse (not better - as your post suggests Trump was claining).

Here it is again, since you obviously read it too fast the first time:

The photos from 2014 WERE photos of children being held in cages under the Obama administration - so Trump is not wrong when he asserts that children being held in cages started in the Obama administration. Disputing that fact just makes us look as out of touch with reality as the Republicans are.
