I have been hearing all the discussion about how even Republicans are alarmed at Trump's latest purges. It's about his ego. It's about his harsh policies, etc.
Here is an angle that eveyone is missing, much like they did for 9/11. The Republicans have a long memory for what their side has done. They remember how GW got his 2nd term. . . attack on our soil and retaliation. Didn't that work for Hitler too?
All the information was available to prevent 9/11. Joe Clark said they gave 24 briefings about the threat. Clinton had told them that our greatest threat was this Islamic terrorism. The Bush administration ignored it all. Even when Joe Clark sent that desperate warning that they felt an attack was imminent. Bush ignored it. That way, they got their attack so they could justify their desire to invade Iraq.
Here we are, de-fanging our security, creating diversions, and, golly-gee, if some attack comes, who could have seen that coming? And Trump thinks he'll ride his way into a 2nd term.
It is a frequently used plan. Get attacked, stir up war, stay in office.
