We knew he was a monster. We knew that he would lie.

But, we "respect the office",
So we kept our powder dry.

He slandered folks from Mexico.
Made Gold Star parents cry.
But, The Turtle looked the other way,
So we kept our powder dry.

He demeaned a national hero
And mocked a disabled guy.
But, even though we were disgusted
We still kept our powder dry .

He watched as we chose to "look forward"
Saw that rules just seemed not to apply
He dares us to mention impeachment
Still, we're keeping our powder dry

If my point so far is lost on you
I'll just have to say it much louder
Justice often demands that we act
Regardless the state of our powder.

I'll spell it out for you. The Constitution has a fatal flaw that has escaped notice for 230 years. The President + 34 Senators = Oligarchy.

The founders did not think that the Senate would back up the President no matter what he does. They thought the Congress would push back not out of duty, but out of self-interest. They were wrong. 53 Senators decided that their self-interest lays with Trump. The Constitution has no remedy for that particular problem.

We do have term limits and elections. The electoral college will vote regardless. If they fail Congress will hold a contingent election where each state gets one vote.

Double gulp!

Even if his Dem opponent wins in a landslide (which she/he will), he will discount the results because of Chinese or Russian meddling, which he will easily prove because of vote counts being off in southern Georgia, or somewhere else. The mainstream media will trumpet this meme to the skies. Trump will remain in office until this is all figured out. All of this means that he will never leave, not in four or eight or even twenty years.

The FBI will drag his orange fuckface out of the WH on Jan. 19, 2021 if he's still there, no matter what lies he & Faux Noi$e say.

If he refuses and starts shootin', the SWAT will be called all over the place.

He ain't leaving, under any circumstances.

of money spent to bend the election process and to lie to American voters through a highly co-ordinated propaganda program at FOX News...And Mitch McConnell refusing to allow American voters to hear the truth.

Donny was put into the job to bring forward the agendas of the Oligarchs and the extreme right wing. He did not win, nor did he earn the position in any sense. The Snake Oil Salesman act did not gain him the Oval Office. It made the lie that he won just plausible enough and the MSM swallowed it whole. Indeed he was the most obviously unqualified of all the GOP candidates.

Never forget that this is so much more than a single personality at work.

The flaw is in the voters who keep allowing the most corrupt dishonest unfit politicians get elected when by all logic they should have been buried in landslides that would have made all other factors a moot point.

No Constitution, no matter how well written, can withstand the onslaught of a population of idiots.

Enough average voters are either unable to identify unfit candidates or don't mind if they are unfit. The founders did try to insulate against this problem by instituting the Electoral College, but it never worked as intended.

It will take years in the courts.
The only way to see the Mueller report is to start impeachment. Getting Mueller to testify won’t do it because Mueller will be restricted to only comment on Barr’s redactions.

Impeach now.

of who held the U.S. Senate.

I find the decision to take impeachment off the table milquetoast, to put it nicely.

The list of crimes just grows. This is the definition of the kind of situation the Founders envisioned.

Also, impeachment now would force all those quisling Senators to vote on the evidence -- at the height of a presidential campaign, I might add. And there are already MOUNTAINS of evidence, most of it under seal but hell the public record has enough evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors. Reveal the full case against the unindicted co-conspirator in chief, from illegal campaign payments to money laundering to tax evasion, ad nauseum!! Let Peoria see that those traitorous rubes in the Senate chose to protect a tinpot dictator over protecting our Republic.

I guess I maintain a (secular) faith that the 70-plus percent of Americans who remain opposed to fascism would do the right thing in such a case. Let the remaining 30-ish percent of deplorable to join their turd emperor on the ash heap of history.
