I don't care who wins the primary

All I want is a united front against the fascists, so that we overwhelm them and make them pay big time for their excesses.

I wish I had more faith in us, like I used to have. DU has shaken my faith in us, regretfully. Maybe you all can help me out and put our petty differences aside for once? We have a Nazi in the White House. It's kind of urgent.

I'm not sure some have learned the lesson.

5. Democracy depends on free exchange of ideas. That's what primaries are for.

All the pressure to stifle discussion is rightwing generated. Let's not fall for it. Primaries allow us to choose who we want to represent us -- discuss away!

Although radicalism and discipline, that's another story.

9. DU isn't representative of the real world.

In the real world, the vast majority of Dems will come together to support the eventual nominee.

I don't spend much time here anymore, in part because of the constant barrage of negativity and in part because of the insane standards to which Democrats are held by a very vocal minority of DU posters. President Obama was right about the circular firing squad, but I think it's much more prevalent here than in the overall voting public on the left. The media exacerbates it, as well.

In recent months, it has become harder and harder to find DU as a safe haven where respectful conversations can be held and ideas floated. Some of the negativity expressed here make me sick to my stomach. And, yes, President Obama had it right about the circular firing squad that we unleash on our own people. It is hard to stay focused on the important stuff with all the flotsam. There has also been a dramatic uptick in posts removed from when I first started following DU which is disturbing. I am hoping that is the work of trolls lying in the shadows here.

I think we tend to be some of the worst purists here. It is frustrating.

Some people here tend to take extreme positions and want to fight to the death to defend them. For a discussion board where people should be open to other opinions and willing to change their own opinions given a good enough argument, we fall short of that most days.

I think I was close to being banned for defending VA Gov. Northam and pointing out it was stupid to want to throw him under the bus for something that occurred so long ago. At the expense of paying attention to his ACTUAL record ever since then. The GOP was laughing their asses off at our circular firing squad.

I think you'd better care a lot about who wins the primary though.

She or He must be electable - whatever that means at the time.

United front or not, a bad nominee will lose the election. That's the key point.
