Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDear Miss Candace Owens: Here are some Fun Facts about the Third Reich.
- After WWI, the democratic and the communist movement in Germany were fighting each other over what Germany's new political system would be like after the Kaiser had stepped down. The Democrats had a slim but decisive advantage over the Communists and that's how Germany became a democracy. National-Socialism was a reactionary movement opposed to this regime-change. National-Socialism was opposed to both forms of public rule, because they were disgusted by the useless squabbling politicians who negotiated the peace after WWI.
- The NSDAP was against democracy. They wanted to replace the parliament with a rule of the people, by which they essentially meant populist mob-rule.
- The National-Socialists were not Socialists.
* Their thugs, the SA, had veritable and bloody street-fights with the Communists. Hitler himself blamed the Communists for ruining his beloved Austria.
* The NSDAP was heavily supported by industry donors, who shared their anti-communist sentiment.
* Once Hitler was in power, one of his first moves was to send every single member of the communist party to jail.
* The NSDAP heavily supported privatization, cartels and monopolies and fought workers' unions.

* Once Hitler was in power, the NSDAP went on an embezzlement-spree.

- How did the NSDAP radicalize their voters? By spreading a conspiracy-theory that the globalist, capitalist Jews want to destroy Germany for whatever reasons.
Now... Evil, globalist Jews... where have you heard that before? It's a popular right-wing conspiracy-theory up to this day!
And it was invented by the Nazis in 1920s Germany.

- Germany had a bustling art-scene. Theater, music, cabaret... Political stand-up comedy was very popular in Germany at the time. When the Nazis took over, they arrested stand-up comedians as enemies of the state. FUCKING Stand-Up Comedians!

- Jews were denounced as being not proper Germans, as not being loyal to Germany and were discriminated against. As were Gypsies and gays.
And with Trump, the US now has their first President who said that jewish US-citizens are secretly more loyal to Israel than to the US.
- The courts were stacked with party-loyalists who regularly ignored all laws and procedures.

So, my dear Miss Candace Owens.
This is what Nationalism is like. These are all things that Hitler did before he even started WWII and before he started with genocide.
- sabotaging democracy
- attacking the free press
- arresting comedians
- kleptocracy, crony-capitalism and oppression of workers' rights
- accusing selected minorities of not counting as proper citizens
- systematic discrimination against these minorities
- stacking the courts with law-breaking political hacks
Do you still think that Hitler would have been a great guy if only he had not invaded other countries?

It was, after all, inside Germany, and part of making it "great" again, with an estimated 275,000 to 300,000 deaths.
Correction: Of that total, approximately 200,000 were German or Austrian (and thus considered citizens of the Reich following the Anschluss). The balance were from the occupied territories, many of them Poles.
I incorrectly stated that "all" were German citizens.

EDIT
Karl Brandt, doctor to Hitler and Hans Lammers, the head of the Reich Chancellery, testified after the war that Hitler had told them as early as 1933when the sterilisation law was passedthat he favoured the killing of the incurably ill but recognised that public opinion would not accept this.[38] In 1935, Hitler told the Leader of Reich Doctors, Gerhard Wagner, that the question could not be taken up in peacetime, "Such a problem could be more smoothly and easily carried out in war". He wrote that he intended to "radically solve" the problem of the mental asylums in such an event.[38] Aktion T4 began with a "trial" case in late 1938. Hitler instructed Brandt to evaluate a petition sent by two parents for the "mercy killing" of their son who was blind and had physical and developmental disabilities.[39][h] The child, born near Leipzig and eventually identified as Gerhard Kretschmar, was killed in July 1939.[41][42] Hitler instructed Brandt to proceed in the same manner in all similar cases.[43]
On 18 August 1939, three weeks after the killing of the boy, the Reich Committee for the Scientific Registering of Hereditary and Congenital Illnesses was established to register sick children or newborns identified as defective. The secret killing of infants began in 1939 and increased after the war started; by 1941, more than 5,000 children had been killed.[44][45] Hitler was in favour of killing those whom he judged to be lebensunwertes Leben (Life unworthy of life). A few months before the "euthanasia" decree, in a 1939 conference with Leonardo Conti, Reich Health Leader and State Secretary for Health in the Interior Ministry and Hans Lammers, Chief of the Reich Chancellery, Hitler gave as examples the mentally ill who he said could only be "bedded on sawdust or sand" because they "perpetually dirtied themselves" and "put their own excrement into their mouths". This issue, according to the Nazi regime, assumed a new urgency in wartime.[46]
