Adam Schiff Eviscerates Trump For Systematically Destroying The Rule Of Law

Congressman Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, tore into Donald Trump for setting a dangerous precedent and essentially destroying the rule of law in America in just two short years.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Rep. Schiff explained how, every step of the way, Trump has acted lawlessly to protect his presidency.

“The precedent now is if you are a president under investigation, you can fire the FBI director who is conducting that investigation,” Schiff explained. “If your attorney general will not ignore the advice of ethics lawyers and intervene on your behalf, you can fire the attorney general. You can then hire a new attorney general who has written to you about how he thinks the case against you is bogus.”

Schiff said:

The precedent now is if you are a president under investigation, you can fire the FBI director who is conducting that investigation. If your attorney general will not ignore the advice of ethics lawyers and intervene on your behalf, you can fire the attorney general. You can then hire a new attorney general who has written to you about how he thinks the case against you is bogus and then that person can get confirmed by the Senate of your party even without requiring that that attorney general recuse himself. And then in place, that attorney general can do exactly what he was hired to do and make the obstruction of justice case go away. And also prevent the Congress from seeing the results, the full results of that investigation. That’s what I mean. That’s what Roy Cohen would do and, sadly, this is where we are only two years into this presidency.

t-rump's budget looks horrible, i.e. cuts in the billions to SSI, etc.

American people are fed up with the Republican party and they know it.

Upcoming elections in 2020.

Majority of America know that the Republican party is breaking the law especially with Barr in the helm and t-rump is guilty.

Barr's newly investigation of Mueller's investigation is a fake and will backfire.

That the Republican party does not care about the USA nor her people.

Seriously.

They have no governing agenda or platform beyond tax cuts and deregulation. Those have been done to bankrupt the government and poison us all already...

They now have only racism and hatred of women as organizing principles...and kowtowing to Trump so he is not mean to them in a tweet (fucking cowards).

I hate the fact that 43% of the people in this country see nothing wrong with that either...almost as much as I hate the fact that the other 57% of the country has a large subset that cannot be motivated or bothered to vote in consistent numbers.

I need some caffeine...this AM is getting me down hard.

I feel like you do...the buffoon and his minions get away with too much. People need to understand that it is easier and faster to destroy than to build, and at the pace we are going, two years of these crooks in power is too much.

I have seen it before, and the road is the same no matter what country you are in, if these crooks are left to continue the destruction, by the time 2020 elections arrive, they will have changed laws, the constitution, and many other things to support their corruption.

The country must wake up.

the innocent can be used to weasel out of anything, including treasonous acts to steal an election and then maintain a secure grasp on authority and power. And he has taught those lessons to the GOP thugs who kiss his ass every single day.

We are currently faced with a national crisis that rivals any in our history with the possible exception of the Civil War. At some point, if something doesn't happen soon to drastically change and correct the present trajectory, maybe even that.

Each and every day the Republicans show the world their complete distain for ethics, the rule of law and even democracy, itself. They would be perfectly happy with an authoritarian dictatorship as long as they thought he was their guy. They are systematically destroying our country.

Still, sometimes an insult can be turned around and pointed at the insulters. That is what the American colonists did to the British who jeeringly called them Yankees.

you find Barr in contempt of congress and innate impeachment proceedings against Barr, let senate GOP defend Barr's contempt of congress and the subpoena to hide the truth from the American people....its a simple strategy and we must demand our democrats in Congress to do this

party gets. The orange hiltler is, it would seem, above the law, too big to fail. 2/3rds of the Fed & state governments are backing him, he has the high courts in his pocket. It was planned this way, they have been working on this scenario for decades. The shit storm has just begun.

When are our Democratic leaders in Congress going to sound the alarm clearly? When are they going to rally Americans to protest nationally and massively against this on-going coup d'etat by a crazed, narcissitic, would-be dictator and his weak, greed-driven, hateful enablers?

We need real leadership now!

if the tables were turned but my hopes are fading. To be fair, there isn't a lot our party can do with 2/3rds of state, federal government & the high courts under nazi control. One party, one House, fighting a war against a majority ruling dictatorship, MSM, the rich elite, wall street, big oil, russia & who knows what else.

Many of us have been extremely patient and willing to let Dems handle this forcefully, but I just don’t see it. It pains me to say we are being failed again as we were during the Bush years.
