Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, made a direct appeal to female voters Saturday, telling supporters at an Ohio rally that, if elected, they would do more to help women in business.
"Just a word to the women entrepreneurs out there," Romney said at a campaign event in Powell, Ohio. "If we become president and vice president, we want to speak to you. We want to help you."
The presumptive Republican nominee told the crowd that women are "more likely" to start businesses than men and "need our help."
"I want to speak to the women of America who have dreams, who begin businesses in their homes, who begin businesses out in the marketplace, who are working in various enterprises and companies," Romney said. "I want you to be successful. Our campaign is about making it easier for entrepreneurs, women and men, to start businesses and to grow businesses."

Let me get this straight. First, they tell us it's our fault if we're raped. Next, they want to force us to raise our rapist's kids in abject poverty, taking the food out of our mouths and those of the child. And they have the freakin' temerity to want us to vote for them? Are they on crack, meth, or bath salts, or what?

(8,421 posts)the whole "need our help" line is revolting.
How about you help us by not trying to make rape into a political term??

(115,806 posts)How is a woman supposed to start and manage a small business when she's not even allowed to control her own reproductive system? Sure, she can run a restaurant or law firm or a bookstore - between pregnancies, and with nine kids hanging on her.
We don't need your oppressive, paternalistic "help."

(3,069 posts)Yeah, boost those business women with one hand, and smack them down with reduced access to the things that make women in business possible, or at least easier, with the other. ARGH! I hate this bullshit.

(82 posts)for me in a start up business it tuned my ears into the stay at home moms homeschooling and selling baked goods, bees wax, nail polish candles, bath and beauty all natural products or perfumes from home. Catering to this demographic promising help in their start up! Seriously I have nothing against stay at homes moms, although home schooling is short sighted in my opinion, but those words speak to these sweet faithful church wives and their cottage industries.
