and confess to having turned it off in anger. Funny how I'm struck that way sometimes. I lived in Asia for 20 years. My children are Asian. His first minute felt so "white superior" to me. I was fuming and contemplated sending him an email. I'm cooled off now.

... he talked about rebuilding and restoration, rather than destruction and loss. There is a lot of expertise in France and all of Europe for restoring these old cathedrals and historic buildings. They know how to do it, make the buildings safe, and preserve them for posterity. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame will be rebuilt.
