General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI think most people who are paying any attention at all to the Trump regime agree that
he is a corrupt, lying, vulgar, classless, childish embarrassment.
Most agree he should provide his tax returns.
Most believe that he is guilty of numerous crimes, including several counts of obstruction of justice.
Most believe he did in fact "collude" with Russia to get himself elected.
When Democrats get indignant about all the above and more, most people understand that. BUT,---
---what many are starting to ask is "When are the Democrats going to DO something?"
I know---I know! We just got control of the House and a lot of things are already in motion. And, we could talk about all the good people taking all sorts of steps to hold Trump accountable. All sorts of steps except------the "I word".
No reasonable person would argue that there is not ample reason to impeach Trump. No one doubts that multiple articles of impeachment could be filed tomorrow. No one seriously doubts that impeachment would REQUIRE Barr to hand over the full Mueller report. Few would contend that impeachment is not the sworn duty of House members given what is publicly known about Trump and his gang.
But, no one can guarantee that Trump would be convicted. No one can predict with certainty what effect a non-conviction in the Senate would mean in 2020. So---some say---we should just forget about impeachment and focus on defeating Trump in the next election.
I sum up all the above this way: we know what should be done; we know what is right and lawful and we know what our oaths require. But, we are not going to do what we should because the Republicans probably won't do what they should.

(90,339 posts)... Mueller report but doesn't think Red Don should be impeached because Red Don said he'd tank the economy.
