The fact that he's standing their while Barr is re-reading his hack ass'd summary means he's about as much as a hack as Barr is.
These people are the zenith of stupid !!
Only an idiot would give up their reputation of any kind for the guy who ran a fake college and sold "Trump Water"
Stupid !!

(58,785 posts)and recommended firing "to restore public confidence." It should have recommended criminal prosecution. Hillary Clinton herself blames Comey's long string of harmful actions against her and for the Trump campaign for ultimately throwing the presidency, and with it control of congress and hundreds of state offices, to the Republicans.
Comey's actions went uninvestigated for several months in in 2016 before he took an action so blatant that it immediately sparked OIG investigation into that single action. McCabe was immediately investigated for his late October crime and recommended criminal prosecution.
What is bullshit is that Comey and McCabe both sacrificed their careers as #1 and #2 at the FBI for no reason. Also that this intense corruption in the FBI is not the subject of a special investigation.

(58,785 posts)Comey should have been able to expect a Republican administration would protect him. But Trump in his delusion thought Comey's support would continue after the FBI helped elect him (a Republican) and attacked him as a traitor when the FBI returned to something much closer to normal function.
Comey knows many secrets about many powerful people and thus is still extremely powerful himself. We can see that clearly enough by the massive corruption protecting him from media exposure. Only here and there do talking heads like Matthew Miller allow little murmurs of truth out met with very brief nods before moving on.
As for the OP, if ignorance is bliss, what's all the anger about? If Rosenstein, Barr and that bearded U.S. Associate DA O'Callaghan were The Three Stooges, everyone could understand well enough because Rosenstein'd be slapping the others, waving his arms, and throwing his hat on the floor.
They're not, though, and Rosenstein's a good man functioning as he believes his professional position requires in the current context.

(940 posts)You still get a pension if you quit. I'm also pretty sure there is a job waiting for him anywhere on K street or the news media/book circuit. Rod doesn't have to worry about money.
He chose to stay, and he chose to be up there with Barr.

(940 posts)He didn't make it to 50 and 20 years, but he is still getting a pension. He has to wait until he is retirement eligible to collect. The 50 years old and 20 years is a special type of retirement for law enforcement officials. I'm sure McCabe can find work somewhere for the ten years until he can collect his FERS retirement money.

I'll bet he'll write a tell-all book too. How any of these guys can remain in the Republican Party after this, it's a huge mystery to me.

(73,555 posts)By Monday evening, things will have changed significantly. I was telling a friend from DU about a growing fracture between Barr and Mr. Mueller. Unreturned phone calls, etc. That could be significant. Judge Walton, too. But even the other things currently brewing will be bad for Barr, and worse for Trump.

(9,865 posts)Do you know how much hidden corruption we have in our politics? He's doing it for money and access to power. His reputation means nothing to him so long as he's guaranteed future lucrative employment which can amount to millions, access to power parties, school entry, jobs for his kids.
We're the hoi-polloi--he certainly doesn't care about his reputation with us.

<<Embattled Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told a Washington audience Sunday that President Donald Trumps words after last years deadly white supremacist march in Charlottesville represented a message of unity that needed to be heard during a divisive period in American history.
Following the murder of a counterprotester by a white nationalist, Trump said, You had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. You also had some very fine people on both sides.
President Trump recognized last August that no matter the color of our skin, we all live under the same laws, we all salute the same great flag and we are all made by the same almighty God, Rosenstein said at the Anti-Defamation Leagues annual leadership summit...
Rosenstein said Trumps call for more tolerance after the Charlottesville rally resembled President Abraham Lincolns 1861 inaugural address. In that speech, the 16th president urged unity despite bitter divisions between the North and the South over slavery.
Lincoln insisted his opponents were not enemies, because we were all Americans, Rosenstein said. He concluded his inaugural address by appealing to the better angels of our nature. President Trump echoed that statement with his remarks last summer of we must rediscover the bonds of love and loyalty that bring us together as Americans....
When victims are attacked because of their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation, there are laws that empower [the Justice Department] to respond, he said. Enforcing those laws is important to President Trump and Attorney General Sessions.>>
