A lot of people are talking about Barr's office releasing the Mueller report on obsolete CD-ROM discs.
That's unlikely, since CD-ROM burner drives have pretty much disappeared. What is more likely is that the wrong word was used. Most likely, what is being released will be on DVD discs, since that is the hardware available on most PCs these days. It's very rare for anything to be distributed on an actual CD-ROM disc. However, some people still refer to DVD discs as CDs.
However, even if the data was delivered on CD-ROM discs, it can still be read by almost all DVD-RW drives, which are backward compatible for reading CD-ROM data.
Much ado about nothing, I'm almost certain. The discs will be readable by anyone with a DVD data drive on their computer, either way.

(7,529 posts)And who still say "answering machine" even though there is no physical machine.
And say they are "taping" a TV show even though there is no tape involved.

(25,471 posts)No, they haven't. DVD burners can burn CDs, as well.

(146,317 posts)The DVD-RW drive in my PC can read, but not write CDs. I can't imagine wanting to write a CD, frankly. I don't use them for anything any more.
Frankly, they should have put the report on USB thumb drives instead. That's my opinion.
