Time to begin an Impeachment Inquiry
It is clearly time for the House Judiciary Committee to open up an inquiry into the question whether Trump should be impeached. That is pretty clearly what Mueller seems to have concluded. Indeed the report is all but explicit on this score. It is also extremely clear that that is what Barr, in his role as Trumps protector, has been trying to forestall. I predict that Nadler will announce the launching of such an inquiry as soon as Congress returns from its recess.
An impeachment inquiry is not the same as actual impeachment. And it might turn out that no articles of impeachment are drafted or voted on by the House. And even if they are, it seems unlikely that the Senate will convict.
But just as Clinton and Nixon were put under lens for possible impeachment, so too should Trump be. And let the chips fall where they may.
Any Democrat who resist starting such an inquiry, has lost my vote forever and should, in my opinion, be driven out of the party altogether.
