One thing that comes across in the report is that Trump and WH officials repeatedly and brazenly lied to the American people about his involvement with Russia. Here, Mueller provides evidence that Trump edited the statement on the Trump Tower to make it factually untrue:

(8,200 posts)There is absolutely no reason that he could not have issues an indictment. The often offered excuse is that it is policy. When did policy become law and where in the constitution does it state that a president can not be indicted. This is effectively saying that he is above the law and that the only recourse is going through a political process that in end does not hold him accountable but at worst throws him out of office. Then if justice is to served he would have to be tried in court. Proceeding from this reasoning if a president murdered someone he could not even be arrested let alone be indicted since his position provides him with protections that are not provided any other citizen. This is totally bizarre at best.

what framework he was working under, what he could do, and what he couldn't, and played it right down the middle.
He KNEW
That that hack Barr was gonna do EXACTLY what Barr did, and put this back on Barr lol, because
He KNEW that ALL OF THIS would be put before Congress, EVENTUALLY one way, or the other.

This man deserves the nation's respect and thanks.

(9,996 posts)Barr is another consigliere behind Jr. and Kushner. He exists solely to protect Trump and to do anything he can to help with Trumps reelection. He should be disbarred because of his blatant dereliction of his duty to serve as the attorney for the Constitution and the country. He has clearly violated his oath to serve the Constitution.
The question I want Congress to ask Mueller is this: If no DOJ opinion existed saying that a sitting president cannot be indicted, would you have indicted Donald Trump for obstruction based on the evidence you collected?
And when Democrats take control again, that DOJ opinion needs to go bye-bye. No person should be above the law, and Congress is no longer a check and balance because Republicans will never vote to impeach or convict a Republican president and Democrats are unlikely to do that for. Democratic president. The second thing that needs to happen is a nonpartisan law establishing the conditions under which a president must be investigated and a specific direction that the DOJ, which reports to the person being investigated, cannot guide the investigation without input from Congress. The results of the investigation must be released simultaneously and in full to the AG and the judiciary committees. When rules are laid out in advance, neither party can play fast and loose with the facts.

(4,341 posts)"the indictment or criminal prosecution of a sitting president would impermissibly undermine the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions"
If the guy is a crook you don't want him/her to have any capacity to perform as a president...what is wrong people?...if the person has acted criminally he/she needs to be removed from office, before trial he/she should be taken out of his/her duties and have the VP take over, that is why a VP exists, granted that I am not happy having Pence take over, but nonetheless, it is an idiotic opinion. On top of that, IT IS JUST the opinion of some man who did not have the balls to say that a president, if found to have acted criminally, should be immediately indicted, removed from office and commence a trial on the evidence as presented by the Independent Council. That is my opinion which I gladly offer and claim no royalty if the congress and the judicial decides to use it instead of the silly opinion that a crook should not be indicted and prosecuted.
That opinion defies all logic..."Hey, we know he is a crook, but his title is that of president, so we have to allow him to continue doing his criminal acts." Come on!!!
By the way, I would have the same opinion if it were a Republican or a Democratic president, a crook is a crook no matter what party he/she may belong to, of course that the law of probabilities pushes the weight of a crooked president coming from the republican party, but that is not here or there...Remove that idiotic opinion, as I said, it was written by a man without balls.

(7,632 posts)Well, me and several million others.
Gasp! You can't bring charges against a sitting President, why, why... it might inconvenience him (or her) and we can't have that!
So in the case of Trump, until we can change the policy, how 'bout we IMPEACH THE BASTARD!!!
Oh ... and his AG too.
