https://www.palmerreport.com/analysis/michigan-wisconsin-pennsylvania-mueller-report-confirms/17438/At the time, we didnt know why these results were so off the mark; we only knew that something was very wrong. Then came one media report after another in 2017 about the role that Russian government hackers tried to play in the 2016 election. Then came the 2018 report from the Senate Intelligence Committee which revealed that Russian hackers managed to breach voter registration databases in key swing states ahead of the 2016 election, and gained the ability to delete voter registration data.
Then came Robert Muellers court filings asserting Paul Manafort gave Trump campaign internal polling data to confirmed former Russian spy and alleged current Russian spy Konstantin Kilimnik. Now today we have this stunning passage from the Mueller report, which sheds more light on the matter: Manafort briefed Kilimnik on the state of the Trump Campaign and Manaforts plan to win the election. That briefing encompassed the Campaigns messaging and its internal polling data. According to [Trump campaign vice chair Rick] Gates, it also included discussion of battleground states, which Manafort identified as Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota.
-snip-
Robert Muellers report says that he didnt pursue what happened with that internal Trump campaign data after the campaign gave it to the Russian government, because other entities like the FBI are investigating the matter. We doubt the Russians sought out this oddly specific internal information from the Trump campaign out of mere curiosity. Something wasnt right in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania and the Mueller report just confirmed as much.

Russians continuusly during his time as trump campaign chaircontinuously, not just once. It is no coincidence that in critical battleground states the repugs won by statistically just enough votes to not have an automatic recount.
They stole it.

(11,308 posts)Which is NOT what the Palmer thing is saying. Sorry, but nobody has come forward with anything credible to suggest that the Russians were successful at manipulating the ballot box. It was all about discord, misinformation and turning American voters against one another.
If you want to have a look at who is manipulating voter registrations .. that would be your state officials. Cheers!

(108,978 posts)They didn't believe that any data had been altered or deleted, but if the Russians successfully breached the Illinois system they could have done it -- and even changed or deleted registrations -- in other states that were being less watchful.

Illinois was one of at least 21 states whose voter registration databases were targeted by Russian hackers in 2016but it was the only state with a system that was known to have been breached during these attacks.
"We know that hackers successfully broke into Illinois' systemthey didn't change any data, but they broke in," said Danielle Root, voting rights manager at the left-leaning Center for American Progress. "But a lot of national security experts believe that 2016 was kind of a testing ground for hackers to see where the vulnerabilities are and how to break-in in the future."

(11,308 posts)Thanks for your follow-up. Yes, it's been well established that the Russians were into databases. Which is cause for extreme concern. Certainly deserves attention (and fixing!). But again, NOT what the Palmer thing was saying.
Palmer is saying that votes (or voting tallys) were altered in PA, WI, etc. IF that happened (and that still remains very questionable, at least according to intelligence and law enforcement) .. it wasn't done by the Russians. Again .. look to your local operatives.
From original post: "Palmer Report began documenting that the voting results in key swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania were suspicious to the point of being nearly mathematically impossible. The odds were infinitesimal that Trump would have won precisely the states he needed in order to pull off a deeply upside-down Electoral College victory, and that Trump would have won them all by just above the margin required to avoid automatic recounts"

(108,978 posts)they were no longer on the voting rolls.
How would they know whether their registrations had been purged by the government or deleted by hackers?
For example:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2016/live-updates/general-election/real-time-updates-on-the-2016-election-voting-and-race-results/missing-voter-registrations-reported-in-north-carolina/?utm_term=.eb6f01384fd2
Reports of missing registrations in North Carolina are coming into the Election Protection hotline from voters who tried to register through the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Allison Riggs, senior attorney with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, said the reports are coming in from throughout the state, but for now it is hard to judge the exact number. It could be thousands, but probably not tens of thousands, she said.
