I would say that is a fair and documented fact.
I think this statement is so fair, and so well documented, that maybe people other than this random person on the internet should be hammering this point home...every day.
Also, I understand, and initially agreed with Nancy Pelosi's position on impeachment. I have changed my mind.
The nation has been, and will continue to be gaslighted by Trump and his supporters. William Barr is not doing the business of the Attorney General, he is doing the business of a stooge. A lackey. A water boy. A fool.
Our political system has lost its integrity. When some other fucker in the future decides to tear everything down again, I don't think we want to be saying "Oh well, we'll fix it at the ballot box in 4 years".
Impeachment will do the following:
1) Put a permanent stain on Trump and his family.
2) Show the Democrats as the party with backbone, and show the Republicans as the party on the wrong side of history. It will show the Democrats as the party of strength, and the Republicans as the party of weakness.
3) It will put Republican Senators who vote against impeachment on the record.
The economy will most likely turn to shit soon. It always does when it is propped up by bullshit. Yesterday was just the beginning of Trump's horseshit starting to be exposed. Yesterday was just one day out of many future days. Yesterday was a planted seed, a road map. Mueller planted a seed for Congress, and gave them a road map. Congress should quietly but diligently follow that road to where it should naturally lead.
And Congress and Democratic presidential hopefuls should also build new roads by presenting an alternative to Trump, by presenting policies that will heal this country and move her forward.
Trump's impeachment is not Bill Clinton's impeachment. It's a whole 'nother animal.

(5,408 posts)do you think "obstruction of justice" will have any traction?
neopotism?
he is obviously selling influence and making money from his various schemes, but will any of that support an impeachment?

(17,441 posts)Impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one. Impeachable charges would not be constrained by the same burden of proof needed for a criminal charge.
Just the sheer volume of Trump's proven lies should be enough to impeach him.

(1,997 posts)The fact that the election was actually stolen needs to be injected into every conversation about the Asterisk president (as he will be remembered in history).
