Mueller report: FBI finds Russian attempt to hack presidential election got into one Florida county

Actually it’s not the fecklessness of Republicans… it’s their willful denial of Russian interference that is the problem

We can support non-Republican candidates all we want, but if we cannot secure our election systems from meddling, we are screwed

(and by meddling — I mean disinformation, ballot hacking AND Republican voter suppression (under the guise of “patriotic security or religious freedom” — whichever they think they can get away with)

Mueller report: FBI finds Russian attempt to hack presidential election got into one Florida county system

Russian efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election included attempts to infiltrate Florida election offices’ computer systems — and the FBI concluded that the operation was successful and the intruders were able to “gain access to the network of at least one Florida county government.”

From the Mueller report (Page 29: “The Office identified dozens of U.S. rallies organized by the IRA (St. Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency). The earliest evidence of a rally was a 'confederate rally' in November 2015.”)

An Instagram post about a Confederate rally in Houston is cited in special counsel Robert Mueller’s redacted report as the “earliest evidence” of Russian influence in political rallies across the U.S.

The report also says: “The IRA (Internet Research Agency) continued to organize rallies even after the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The attendance at rallies varied. Some rallies appear to have drawn few (if any) participants, while others drew hundreds. The reach and success of these rallies was closely monitored.”

I’m skeptical they did, but I don’t doubt they wanted to and will try really hard in 2020, while the Republicans look the other way.
