They fucking impeached Clinton for lying about having a sexual encounter. This fucker lies about everything, is driven by and makes personal profit every day he is in office at enormous costs to you and I, breaks laws every single day he is in office, and intentionally undermined the integrity of our electoral system in cahoots with our arch enemy -- all in the name of personal enrichment --- AND WE SHOULDN'T IMPEACH HIM?!

Look where Clinton's impeachment got the Rs! Eight years of GW! Look where blatant obstruction of Obama got the Rs -- the frigging nightmare we have in the WH now! Let alone decades of a majority in the SCOTUS.

Wake up intelligent, thoughtful people! It's time for us to stop trying to finess and start playing tough!

Let those moderate Democrats in gerrymandered districts focus on the issues, infrastructure, eliminating republicon tax scams that take from workers and shower it on billionaires and corporations.

Let AOC and others in "safe" districts lead the impeachment. From what I've seen of the freshmen performance in hearings so far, they'll do a great job.

It's ridiculous to think that the House can't separate their focus, and act on more than one thing at a time. Then, next year, Dems run on "This over here is what we are working on FOR America, and that over there is how we are holding criminals accountable".

Furthermore, we need this all to be made public. Let the Senate trial be as public as Clinton's trial. If republicons don't vote to convict, it will be crystal clear to everyone how corrupt they also are. Republicon voters who don't care aren't going to vote D anyway.

Also, we need to give the Senate something to do besides spending all their time packing the courts with crazy rightwing judges.

The process is necessarily sequential and impeachment is not the next step so we need to stay focused on the next step and Nancy Pelosi seems to me to be on top of things. We may be at the crossroads in 4-6 months when the decision will likely be the choice between impeachment and the 2020 election with or without some sort of censure.

One thing does seem pretty sure. Our Constitution needs some serious upgrades because it no longer provides for a form of checks and balances. Several factors have brought this about but none is bigger than Citizens United and the money corruption that this unleashed.

Just checked out a RW site (so y'all don't have to) and the comments on her call for impeachment include "she should be lobotomized" "she ought to be put in a mental asylum," and, one I favor because of its implicit ignorance "has she even read the American constitution?" -- with an odd emphasis on "American" -- as if the RW has a secret "American" constitution that permits the lobotomizing and institutionalizing of non-Republicans. Ya see? All very cogent, thoughtful and well informed responses! The poor things are panicking so publicly it's almost painful to see.

Republican legislators have already issued warnings to stay away from this intelligent woman with the fiery wit, with the idiot from KY -- who invited her to speak to coal miners in his district even though his district has no coal mines - prompting another fascist-manquee gopper to warn that "we must avoid debating this issue [of coal vs the green new deal] with her and, instead, debate only people we can handle." (Find me a dumb democrat to debate!)

The view among Republicans -- especially gratis AOC -- is "Dems be smart, we be not-smart. Dems know stuff and stuff ain't on our side."

If only we could depend on the intelligence of the electorate to vote its self-interests, the GOP would be such a teeny-tiny party that even the Flat Earthers would have more gravitas and followers, and the Dems would rule the land.

(Admittedly, the Dems' ruling would come with its own set of caveats, but the vote wouldn't be restricted, immigrants wouldn't be caged, the climate would stand a chance of repair, and the opioid crisis would be solved not by jailing addicts but, rather, the billionaires (like the Sackler family) who have gotten fat and rich by creating those addicts.)

vote in the Senate, but I want Dems on the record of doing the right thing.

And I'm tired of the media argument that Dems need to be focused on other things for the 2020 election. Dems can walk and chew gum at the same time, so they can do both.

And most important, we lose the process of democracy by letting trump and his cronies think they can do whatever the f they want and get away with it.

for holding this kleptomaniac occupying our WH accountable for his criminal actions and intent now as a Congressional priority by initiating impeachment.

The only way we will see anything meaningful happen is to keep the pressure on our legislators. There are too many talking heads saying one of two things: that most Americans want Congress to move on from investigating to doing the work of legislating; and/or Dems will lose in 2020 if they impeach because most Americans accept the findings of the Mueller Report as laid out by Barr. Both of them are GOP spin! Don't buy it!

Clinton was impeached by the rogue GOP for lying about a sexual encounter. What did that get the GOP? GW Bush in the WH for two terms. They played hardball. Yeah, they stole 2000, but they played hardball and got away with it.

The GOP obstructed Obama for 8 straight years. Hardball again. What did they get for that? A majority in the SCOTUS that could last for decades, not to mention the illegitimate POS in the WH now.

Are we going to let them get away with it again?

The Republican controlled Senate will never allow it. When you give the Republican Party any control in Congress, they keep corrupting and covering it up to harm United States.

Democrats need to keep repeating simple messages everywhere that the Republicans are hiding the truth and hurting everyone in the country. Keep pointing out all of the Republican failures, lies, tricks, games, and deeds instead of treating any of them as though they are honorable and respectable. They are all frauds!

Is the problem coming from some sitting on the same boards, belonging to the same clubs, or being in the same social groups outside of government???
