The Democrats should explain to Trump and the American people their best way forward.
The resignation of Trump and a pardon by Pence is the best path forward. Trump is all about protecting himself. The report made it clear Trump could be facing indictments when he leaves office. He will realize a pardon is the best way to protect himself. The Democrats should call for Trump to resign for his benefit and for the benefit of the country and the American people.
The American people will soon see dozens of people testify in open hearings about Trump and what he has done. It is going to get ugly. The Democrats must explain to the American people that Trumps behavior cannot go unanswered because it would destroy the rule of law and our democracy, perhaps permanently.
The Mueller report proved Trump committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors. Dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, lying to the American people, obstruction, intimidation, abuse of power are all examples of High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
It is now the constitutional duty of congress to present their case to the American people. Then the American people must decide their own fate. Rule of law or lawlessness.
Resignation would be better than going through an impeachment process.
