Pelosi needs to build the case *FOR* impeachment .......... among democrats first.

Looking at past polling data it looks like Clinton's popularity with democrats was a key indicator for KGOP ... NOT ... to impeach Clinton, the public was not behind Republicans.

Polling data here - https://www.nytimes.com/1998/12/21/us/impeachment-polls-public-support-for-president-for-closure-emerges-unshaken.html

the public continues to be almost completely at odds with much of Washington's political establishment over the import and significance of Mr. Clinton's affair, and attempts by an independent counsel and Republicans in Congress to prove he tried to cover it up.

During the late 90s the two things that hurt republicans post Clinton impeachment was

1, Clinton was relatively popular with republicans at the time of impeachment. Clinton was polling in the 40s with republicans which is not bad for an opposition party leader at any time in history in any nation.

2. Polling showed ...republicans ...didn't want to impeach Clinton. Some republicans even voted AGAINST some of the articles of impeachment !!!

Right now it looks like there's a FUD campaign online against impeachment. This FUD campaign is proffering false equivalencies of Clinton impeachment as a reason... NOT ... to go ahead with impeachment and also the fact that reThuglicans wont remove in the senate which isn't something democrats need to ask for; they can impeach and not move for removal.

BUT

The case Pelosi needs to make is among democrats which only around 60% in March (not recently) think impeachment was worth it ... but this is before the REDACTED Mueller report release.

QUESTION: Do you think 80% of democrats wanting impeachment Trump would be significant enough to move Pelosi onto the impeachment track?

What say you?

Thx inadvance

Explain where we get 20 patriotic GOP Senators with consciences. Failing that, where we get a GOP Senator with the gravitas and moral authority of Goldwater to tell Trump he has to resign. In the absence of either of those, explain how the country is better off after McConnell acquits, Trump gloats, and this regime figures out that it really does have carte blanche.

The Charge of the Light Brigade was "magnificent, but it was not war." Impeaching Trump may or may not be magnificent, but it is certainly not politics. Pelosi knows this.

a choice you make will fail, why do it? Republicans, and the "poor Donnie Trump's" will be grandstanding every day, taking up time when nothing else will be revealed. It's a shit-show with a guaranteed bad ending. What is the upside? Is it just doing something? Anything? Is there some other way for Congress to communicate with people, tell us what the eff is going on? We are all in uncharted waters, and the lack of information regarding reality is a killer.

... being able to get powers under impeachment that put's people in jail if they do what they did with Mueller.

The investigation is far from over, the Mueller report just gave roadmaps to where to go

How does that work? Is there still a jail? Is lying to Congress any different? The Republicans, with their share of the time, will not be looking for answers. They will be preaching. So, half the time is a waste, and the end result is what?

Most people don't read the Mueller report.
Most people get their news from their "trusted" sources and believe what they are told and don't know what they aren't told.
Most people don't watch House or Senate hearings on CSpan, cable news, or the internet.
A lot more people would watch impeachment hearings on network television where they would have the Mueller report read to them and they would have to listen to facts and not what their "trusted" sources have or have not been telling them. They would hear testimony, under oath, repeating what was said in their own words with their own words in Mueller report. There will be no more Fake News. There will be real former tRump officials telling what they know.
