5. and why not? If nothing else is clear, this whole thing has been a huge victory for him

and it continues to pay off. It's an intractable situation for the U.S., politically, even if we didn't have an entire major political party coopted and corrupted like we do. There's no effective mechanism to "fix" things.

And it also seems clear that there won't be any further repercussions for Russia--they helped steal an election, and the end result of all the investigation is basically just an acknowledgment..."yep, they sure did...oh, well."
